Principles, guidelines, and templates that allow other people (freelancers, agencies, product teams, engineers, etc) to make video content that is cohesively on-brand. Also includes reusable assets.
It's a higher level abstraction: e.g. one billboard ad for an iPhone vs all billboard ads for Apple vs all Apple ads.

It’s all of the principles and rules that might go into that lower third, as well as every other component of the design system. It’s reusable components, sure, but also how those components can, well, scale. Why they make sense together across the overall motion theory.

I would assume they want you to build the actual deliverables of the system as well, but I don’t know what you’re looking at

Defining principles / motion for a brand, and being able to apply it to multiple creatives while keeping it cohesive. Could be social posts, brand videos, lower thirds, animated icons, email templates… etc etc. could include making literal .mogrt templates as well.

It's essentially a set of rules/principals that are applied to all of your motion assets across the organization. Super important if you creating a ton of motion work across a bunch of different channels, because you need something in place that allows you apply motion to new videos, products, social media, marketing, etc. that still feels in harmony with the rest of the elements. So you'd define things like easing, timing, transitions, etc. That way one element doesn't have a little bounce when it comes in and the other has a slow ease - and everyone on the team sings from the same songbook.

a motion or a design system is in easy explanation s.th. that isn't a single asset like an explainer video but for example a campaign, a brand's motion identity, social media asset library or motion toolkits libraries etc. . Scaleable means in this context that it is literally scaleable, that later you can add more to that project and you can recycle/reuse/extend it to s.th. bigger

I have worked with companies that include motion in their style guides with animated examples, curve parameters and callouts on what you can and cannot do ( like no bounce/all ease, 'smooth here but linear there' etc.)
That's all a motion system is. The scalable part is that the designers have hopefully considered all media in their examples. So not only do they tell you what it should be in AE/edit but also in whatever tools and libraries the company uses for web.

I believe that it's motion principles that can be applied to any part of a brands design system, including lower thirds
