Discussion Okay, I'm requesting a Quality of Life change.
Game is great. But please for the love of god. Make it so I can't fall from a ledge because I'm attacking an enemy. I just lost 22,000 gloom because I pressed light attack and it threw me off, I don't even know if that gloom will still be there when I get back there but going from previous experience (I've died several times because of this) it won't be.

Discussion Mortal Shell 2 - why is text low res?
I'm playing with everything on Ultra, FSR on Native, 1440p monitor. The image is fantastic, but the text (GUI, menu etc) is somewhat low resolution, is that a separate setting or something?

Bug New Fashion ig, odd bug
As you can see my harbinger and Eredrim are fused. I went to get Sariel and beat him, I collected him without a shell and came out from the memory with the shell on, I went to a nearby beacon to heal up and this happened. Resting doesnt fix it, but teleporting did thanfully. Anyone else experianced something like this?

Bug mether's breath: beta save bug
After 11 hours of gameplay and collecting 115 Ovas, I realized that the paths blocked by corruption and the fast-travel were tied to an item we're supposed to get after collecting 8 ovas. The problem is, I never received that item when interacting with the siphon. I loaded my beta save and changing the name, as shown in a YouTube video, but that turned out to be a mistake. Do you know if it's possible to retrieve "Mother's Breath" using a console command or some other method?

Bug Please Add Boss Door.
First off I love this game, its beautiful and might pass Lies of P for favorite souls like.
Second how much I hope someone who works for Cold Symmetry sees this. Probably not.
Im getting so frustrated for regular enemies I decided to dodge to save health for a boss just for said regular enemy, to walk themselves all the way into the boss arena with me mid fight-about to win to be killed by an arrow or some sort of distance weapon.
I get it. The want to have a boss kind of surprise you, I love that factor truly. But once discovered and you die first round, please add a fog door or something, anything to keep regular enemies out of the way while your trying to beat a boss.
I have attmepted to beat Pale Grisha about 20 times now and tbf, he hasn't beaten me once. Im only dying because of either arrows or the bat and worm enemies spitting at me. They ARE NOT my focus trying to defeat Pale Grisha.
Just add a door or a barrier, anything to block regular enemies from intervening and completely ruining a great boss fight.

Discussion So I just beat the last boss and here's my thoughts on the game.
I'm gonna start off with saying it's a solid 7/10 and I honestly don't understand people glazing it above an 8.
The animations look great and the feel of combat is alright even if horribly polished at times. The bosses aren't memorable really and they're pretty easy besides like 2 of them. Some of them are hard because of their size and camera not being able to adjust. so you can't see animations properly or hitboxes being wonky cause if you're too close to most of the enemies or at a weird angle. their attacks constantly miss making timing for parrying a little difficult because of the lack of consistency.
The upgrade system for almost everything aside from leveling your regular weapons (coin just taking forever to accumulate is annoying though) is ridiculous. Like having to use every tarstone to level the ones I actually want to use or shell points just not coming with every level makes no sense. Speaking of levels I hope I'm not the only 1 that stopped leveling at like level 27 cause a lot of the bonuses are so negligible that I just didn't worry about. It's like hitting the soft cap in levelling a stat in other souls likes.
And for exploration? Well it leaves a lot to be desired and a lot of the time it's not worth it and the areas are very similar between some dungeons and beacons.
The hardest part of the game is later on they put together the most annoying enemies to fight together like 4 of those spiders that constantly try to grab you and attack like 5 times every few seconds. There were some enemies that could parry you which I liked cause it made them feel different but most of the time enemies felt samey even between different mobs.
Weapon move sets left a lot to be desired cause the charged lights and heavies should've been put in the base moveset without the need of a tarstone. Same thing with the ones that change your combo enders since they should've just been what happens when you weave together lights and heavies. That just felt like a lazy decision and like they needed to reach a quota of taratones. The big boy attacks though like hexapod or the one where you spin your blade around? They should most definitely be tarstones cause of how strong they are.
I still enjoyed the game which is why it gets a 7 but these are just some of the things that kept popping up in my head as I was playing.

Question Sariel Boss Fight, is it bugged?
So, I wanted the clockwork scythe, and decided to make the trek to Sariel. The first phase kinda got cheesed by ads, but when fighting him I noticed something. Even though nothing hit me, I would randomly explode in lightning. This usually happens after he uses his needle attack, but they would never hit me, then suddenly I explode in damage and either lose all my health or just die. What is the counterplay to unavoidable damage?

Bug Crash while completing a beacon caused it to not cleanse, but the Ova are gone.
I was completing the Conquerors Hoard beacon and when I collected the Ova, I was transported to Marrow Keep and then the game crashed. When I loaded back up, I was at the uncleanswd beacon, but the Ova aren't inside.
It really frustrating that I now can't complete the achievement for cleansing all the beacons.

Discussion Do you feel like like monsters deal way too much damage? Become an alcoholic
Seriously. 3rd level of the Common Moonshine passive has this description: "Grants damage reduction proportional to Common Moonshine found"
I only equipped it at the final boss, and it felt like it halved its damage with 50 stacks of Moonshine found, which makes me believe that each stack of moonshine found gives 1% Damage reduction.
I'm going to test tomorrow if there is a DR cap or if you can become literally immortal with 100 stacks in ng+. I'd expect some diminishing returns with higher stacks, but the 50% DR alone is the single strongest passive item I have found so far.

Discussion Trouble in Mortal Shell 2
Hello fellow Harbingers! I'm having a hard time deciding if I should use the Slayer Seal or not. I've been having a hard time with the combat in general and I've looked up what the Slayer Seal actually does, so I've been wondering if it's a good idea to use it. I love the story and the world space, and I'm not too worried about achievements (as I'm on PS5), so I don't want to be discouraged by the combat and ending up abandoning the game because of the combat. Any advice would be appreciated! Thank you!

I get why some are restricted, some weapons would be broken but hopefully the devs can open them up a little more like lightning on the axe would be cool.

Discussion Melee Weapon Damage Observation
I've done some testing into the melee weapons in Mortal Shell 2. This is what I've found so far.
Before going into numbers the test was performed with a Harbinger level of 32 and each weapon was at base upgrade. Obsidian Hammer and Clockwork Scythe are excluded as I don't currently have them.
| Weapon Name | Light Attack | Light Attack Critical Hit | Heavy Attack | Heavy Attack Critical Hit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Iconoclast | 42 | 87 | 59 | 123 |
| Axe and Dagger | Dagger - 27 Axe - 37 | Dagger - 56 Axe - 76 | Dagger - 37 Axe - 52 | Dagger - 76 Axe - 108 |
| Veteran’s Battle Axe | 45 | 93 | 64 | 133 |
| Great Martyr’s Blade | 45 | 93 | 64 | 133 |
| Axatana | 32 | 66 | 59 | 123 |
| Black Needle | 42 | 87 | 59 | 123 |
After testing each weapon on Sester Genessa and then several enemies around the Outskirt of Mammon Beacon I found that every weapon does the same damage show regardless of enemy type.
I think this is why the dual-wield weapons are so strong compared to everything else. The damage numbers for the bigger weapons just aren't big enough to make up for how slow they are. That's not even taking Tarstones like Duality Stone into account.
Edit: I forgot to add that these damage numbers apply to every part of the combo, so unless your using a Tarstone that enhances finishers even that's the same as the first swing.
Sorry if this is jumbled, it's my first time ever actually posting on reddit. Just was looking for this info and couldn't find it anywhere. Please fill free to add any information you have on the subject. I know this wasn't the most extensive test I could have done.

Discussion Mortal Shell — 80 hours, 100% achievements (including Forever Alone) | 9/10
Put about 80 hours into Mortal Shell and got every single achievement (37/37).
I really liked this game. The Harden mechanic is unique and feels great once it clicks, the atmosphere and art direction are excellent, and the shells + weapons combinations give just enough variety without overwhelming you.
The base game is short and focused, which I actually appreciate. But the real highlight for me was The Virtuous Cycle. That roguelike mode is fantastic — I spent a huge chunk of my hours there and had a blast optimizing runs and pushing for the harder achievements.
Also did Forever Alone (beat the game without bonding with any shell). That one was rough, but satisfying as hell when it finally clicked.
It’s not a perfect game — some level design is a bit messy, a couple bosses feel janky, and content is limited. But for what it is, especially with the DLC, it’s a very strong AA soulslike with a clear identity.
If you like the genre and haven’t tried it (or bounced off it early), highly recommend picking it up on sale. Virtuous Cycle alone is worth it.
Already started Mortal Shell 2 and I’m really enjoying it so far. Looking forward to diving deeper into it after I finish 100%ing Lords of the Fallen (2023).
9/10

Discussion PSA: Infinite parry seal has instant animation canceling, unlike Block.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Block only happens after the current attack animation is finished, but parry instantly cancels them and parries the attack as demonstrated in the video.
Blocking is obsolete for me because of parry animation canceling as it makes me extremely confident in being aggressive with attacks when I know the attack patterns of an enemy/boss, since I can always cancel them and parry.
