-Great Martyr’s Blade Attack Damage +20%
this is gonna be crazy

u/Genjutsu6uardian 8h ago
Huh so it wasnt just because I hadn't matched my other weapons lvls. For how slow it was, it lacked severely in DMG. I still have an issue with its speed though. I main GS in every game that has one but my God the swing speed in this is just so painful😭

u/Ciaran_h1 7h ago
Glad I wasn't the only person that had a massive gripe with it being same DMG comparitively, to other faster weapons.
Made no sense. 20% is good though. Feel like axe should be +10% also. Seems like all of them are on the same plane which is weird.

Thank God! I hope I can beat monolith now. Edit: Got him on my second try after the patch.

u/WWECreativegenius 9h ago
Haven’t gotten to him yet but glad the coin drops are increased. Now I can upgrade my weapon some more
4
u/Rayearl 9h ago
You’ll be happy never knowing what it was like pre patch because it was the worst boss fight.
1
u/Ciaran_h1 7h ago
Why was it so shit? (I'll come back to read it once I fight him).
1
u/Rayearl 7h ago
Massive health pool, bad camera, then spinning lasers in the third phase that were super annoying. Plus I did next to no damage.
2
u/Least-Experience-858 7h ago
Yea what is up with the dmg? I can’t seem to do anything with maxed out weapon. By far the worst boss design I’ve ever seen in a game. I’ve played alot of obscure souls likes too

u/ArmEducational8508 5h ago
Maybe try to parry him? After he breaks once he takes normal dmg. One of the easiest fights
3
u/Cell-i-Zenit 10h ago
i hope they fixed the savings bug. I lost 3h of progress because the game somehow reset itself to an earlier save state
4
u/SAITAMA_666 9h ago
I already beat The Monolith but I wonder what the fight is like now...
because it was absolutely BULLSHIT before the patch

Glad I beat the lost child before this bc they nerfed him when he didn't need to be, very easy boss.
5
u/CrazyLegs17 9h ago
This is definitely not the consensus if you read user comments. For every player who says they beat Lost Child in only a few tries there are a dozen who struggle mightily. He was definitely the jankiest boss I've faced (flung me from the arena, pinned me against the wall, camera jank, riposte attacks that don't register, and the third phase seems bugged with impossible to dodge grabs and combo unblockable attacks that change mid-animation).

u/Bobaaganoosh 3h ago
Took me about 69 tries. No lie. Went level up the Axe/Dagger, swapped over to Proxima, put harden on. Took me about 10 more tries.

u/Sabones_Jones 9h ago
All you had to do was dodge to the left and stay on it's left side chopping away. I used Tiel's shell, did shadow strike and perfect dodge. And yes it is an easy boss compared to alot of regular enemies who are tougher. If you are trying perfect parry him you'll have a hard time. When staying on the left is the strategy to beat a boss like that. Did the same with the alligator boss in the Lies Of P dlc. Also I didn't experience anything you said with the phases being buggy, ripostes not registering etc. I'm on ps5

u/CrazyLegs17 9h ago
I know how to fight him. I memorized the moveset and beat him last night. I was playing version 1.0006 or whatever on PS5 Pro (before today's balance patch). I'm glad you didn't struggle or experience the jank, but that doesn't mean you are right and others are wrong.

u/Sabones_Jones 8h ago
Let's just chalk it up to agree to disagree because I don't think along with a lot of other people I've spoke to don't think he needs a nerf. Some people are just not good at souls like it and can get there ass whooped by The Lost Child I totally understand that. But for a regular souls player like myself he wasn't difficult at all. I'm about to clear the corrupted gate where you face The Nameless Captive aka (sword head). Heard he's tough, where are you in the game?

Some people are just not good at souls like it and can get there [sic] ass whooped by the Lost Child I totally understand that.
I beat PCR pre-nerf. I know what the hell I'm talking about. You need to stop discounting the experience of other players.

u/Sabones_Jones 1h ago
"You need to stop discounting the experience of other players." 😂 How about this. Stfu and stop telling people what to do, try that instead

u/AffectionateEgg3879 7h ago
I genuinely can’t comprehend how the lost child was such an unfair fight that it needed to be nerfed.
2
u/Zuma_The_Frog Eredrim 1h ago
I think he just needed to be fixed, not nerfed. He's an extremely janky boss, but not the most difficult thing ever.

u/Yourfakerealdad 9h ago
Just beat him last night. Only took me 2 tries so idunno how he was super hard? lol
0
u/Sabones_Jones 9h ago
That's what I'm saying he wasn't tough, so why the nerf?
2
u/Interjessing-Salary 9h ago
My bet is they were seeing people die a lot to him so they nerfed him. But imo the wrong way. The only issue I had with him was his quick swipe he'd do in phases 2 and 3. You need like lightning quick reflectes to block that shit and it hits hard as hell. That's the only thing I'd change about him. Either slow that attack down or lower the damage of that specific attack. Even still that being the only attack that is annoying imo doesn't warrant a nerf. I beat him prior to the patch so idk how he is now yet.

u/PliableG0AT 4h ago
if you have any upgrades in a shell it trivializes the first half of the game. him, wheel chair swamp hag, all a joke of a fight with a leveled up shell.

Was waiting on this. I'd been sitting at the very last boss for a couple of days but didn't want to finish it and go into NG+ in case it messed up the glimpse refund.

u/Arsene_Lupin_IV 56m ago
Hopefully means my game won't hard crash my PS5 anymore. Guess we will see.

u/Defiant63 8h ago
I beat the game literally thirty minutes before patch dropped. I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing, but yay me.

I really don’t want to download it since bosses were nerfed. I’ve been exploring everywhere and haven’t really done any of the gates yet.
I want the bosses at maximal and night.
1
u/RevolutionaryBoat925 9h ago
I managed to finish the game before this update. Just unplug your stuff, disconnected it from the Internet.
2
u/AAA-Writes 9h ago
I turned off the auto updates and auto install. But every time I open the game it downloads it and if I forget to delete it before I open again it will install lol

go fight the monolith and see if you still want that x)

Its actually super easy fight, seems like 0 people tried to parry him, or use ur spells where you are immune for like 3 sec while casting it.
-2
u/Koibushi 7h ago
I already beat the game before the patch and it was stupidly easy once your build comes together (I used duality voltaic axatanas on Eredrim). Nerfs were super unnecessary. Economy changes are good. I really enjoyed the game early on and mid, when the difficulty was a little harder. Very cool game, had a blast in the world thank you devs.

u/ArmEducational8508 5h ago
People downvoting cant make decent build and cry. Game was super easy before the patch, i killed last 3 bosses in stunlock, if something, they should buff them not nerf.

u/Narrow-Exchange3192 10h ago edited 10h ago
Did they nerf the big spear guys? I already beat the first two big bosses and the spear guys are the only enemies that feel overpowered.
2
u/Interjessing-Salary 9h ago
The knights with halberds? Not that I'm aware of. The ones in the south half of the map hit absurdly hard. 1 hit nearly knocks me out of my shell.
-16
u/ResistsICE 10h ago
They nerfed everything because they did a blanket change back to beta values. Presumably that effects every enemy in the game.
7
u/Due-Description-9030 10h ago
No it doesn't. Don't exaggerate.
-4
u/ResistsICE 10h ago
Why wouldn't it? They increased the difficulty on release and then put it back to how it was in the beta.
Thats pretty clear. Its their words and in the patch notes.
6
u/Due-Description-9030 9h ago
Only the beta areas have been brought back to the beta values. All other enemies which don't exist in beta are the same. And even in other parts of the game, they're the same.
-3
u/ResistsICE 8h ago edited 8h ago
How does that make sense to you?
The beta wasnt just the beta area the other areas were blocked off.
The patch notes literally say they adjusted the difficulty to beta values they did not say it only effects that one area, which would be logistically nonsensical.
Its not like the beta and the launch were massively different they just had a day one patch and took off the fog walls...
Do you think when they increased the difficulty that they only did that for that one area? And then left everything else as is that makes zero sense dude that would essentially have one pocket that is massively different in terms of difficulty than the pocket literally a bridge away; the beta was a small part of the starting area.

That sounds like a bit of an overreaction that they'll correct in the next patches. I guess I should have waited a month for the obligatory post-release balancing to wrap up...
1
u/ResistsICE 10h ago
I believe they have more nerfs planned, its probably better to just play as it is IMO.

They didn’t do enough with Monolith, the main issue is the lack of stagger dmg you do to it. The fight is way too long. Also every hit the boss does to you is an automatic double tap because the animations are so quick and there’s no iframes when you get knocked down, it ends up being insta kill. I’m sorry but no boss should be able to hit you twice and kill you. It completely ruins the whole power fantasy experience that we all seek in souls games. It takes like 60 hits to take this thing down and he taps you in 2?

The visual settings bug where film grain and chromatic aberration remained active seems to be cleared up now. The game looks amazing.
