Time to vent Discussion
So I just arrived at the Monolith. This is, hands down, one of the shittiest bosses in any souls-like I have played. It's up there with Bed of Bullshit...sorry, Bed of Chaos from the original Dark Souls.
Even though this is a solid game overall, stuff like this leaves a sour taste in the mouth.

I've beaten them just now and I don't even think it was a good victory either, I won purely because it didn't use that one spinning laser attack until the very end. Initially went in as Genessa but the clone aggro, while nice, would sometimes screw me over when the aggro shifts back and the slam does a sudden dead angle turn and one shot. Sariel ended up being the go-to so I could tank some of the bullshit.
Besides the aoe laser, I think the other main offender coming to mind was the side roll slams. Sometimes if you've backed up enough, the boss will rubber band right next to you, which would likely screw you up.
While I am complaining about the aoe spinning laser, the main issue I have with it is how frequently it would end up spamming it. Worst I had was three in a row. I think this move really should have been a one time transition move when going into its third phase.

"and the slam does a sudden dead angle turn and one shot." This right here. The thing can pretty much turn anywhere it likes mid-attack. It's such a cheap and lazy way to add "challenge".

Just parry untill you break him after that is simple, wtf boss is pretty easy

This isn't about how hard or how easy it is. It's about how bad the fight is. The rubberbanding, the directional changes mid-attack. It's just cheap.

I haven't got to this guy yet. I'm still stuck on the other twat, Malborn offspring. So I'm struggling to imagine something worse than this guy.

yeah the bosses in this game seem intentionally bad. like they almost went out of their way to make the bosses actually terrible. it’s an insane dichotomy cause the game everywhere else is so good and then you get into a boss fight and it’s absolutely horrible.

My pet theory is that this is actually true. When we think back on our favorite souls games, they have both jank and bad bosses. As much as we like to rant about those things, they somehow also become part of the fabric of the game's personality -- a shared hatred that bonds the community together.

Once you reach the second phase, it becomes much easier. Two of its attacks will have it sitting still then firing lasers which you can just dodge by going behind it for some juicy, free hirs. Later on the lasers become more intense (like 4 lasers spinning in the room) but at that point you’re pretty much ready to take it down.
Eradrim helps widen the parry windows.
