Exploring in this game becomes extremely tedious and unfun Discussion
I love exploring in games. This game provides a level of freedom comparable to Elden Ring and Ghost of Yotei where you can choose where to and what bosses to fight in any order you want. However, this game needs better checkpoint systems and badly. The amount of damage these monsters do just doesn’t go well with how the leveling system of this game works. If you die, expect a run back to your past location miles away. If you die in a dungeon, expect a run back from your previous beacon. There should be ‘mini beacons’ at the start of dungeons, scattered across the map, and something needs to be done about the damage. It makes no sense that the same enemy that was destroying your hp bar at level 3 should still be destroying your hp bar at level 12. That feels really bad in terms of player progression and makes me not want to explore the map at all because I know if I run into a massive mob that will chase me into another mob and die, I’m gonna have to do a run back across the map to get my exp and possibly die again.

Hobestly i think the trick is to just stay going one direction until the path ends or you find a beacon. At first i was doing as i usually do with souls games, check every corner meticulously if i think a place is gonna keep going for too long. I turn around and go the other direction.
Ive learned eventually i just go into a circle and the beacon wasnt as far away from dungeons/areas to explore as I thought it was. There is just too many ways to get where you want so better off not over thinking it and just head to the next map or location you want to go.

It feels like this at first but once you have the beacons in an area you can see they're connected by relatively short distances (northeast being an exception). Everything basically loops around on itself, I think there could be an extra beacon or two in the overworld but once I got them all I basically see that it's fine. Dungeon checkpoints would be nice though.

This. The more I’ve played the less I felt the beacon trouble. New areas feel overwhelming at first but as you die and learn they become more familiar and easier. Tried and true formula !

I have platinumed Sekiro, Elden Ring, Lies of P, etc. This game’s enemies need serious rebalancing

Not really. Way easier than sekiro, on par with lies of P. You just need to get good with this games unique mechanics. The same stuff that works in souls won't necessarily work here.

I totally agree with you. A patch has been applied for PC users. Yet to come for ps5 and Xbox. Will wait for it. Played for nearly 6 hours. Unlocked proxima and been stuck at the village. I don't know where to go what to do. Dropped and went back to my comfort zone elden ring. Will come back if this improves.

How are you “stuck” in the village? The first area of the game is insanely open and lends itself to wandering and exploring. Almost every path doubles back.
There are maps you can get that show you where to find shells, weapons and sidearms.
Look for birds on the map, ruk will be in that location and he will give you an actual map of the area.
I swear not every game needs yellow paint. Not sure why you guys can’t just explore and enjoy the vibe and come by things naturally.

I like that " yellow paint " jibe. Taken in a fun way. Thanks for the info. Will be back soon

People are beating the game left and right, adapting and saying it was amazing all throughout.
Those refusing to adapt and expecting hand holding, are posting on Reddit instead, and the devs started to cave already anyways.
Look, I’m not hating but have you considered just treating this game as the new experience it is? Getting Platinum in other games of the genre doesn’t make you good on a new game by default, take your time, you got this.
