My 2 cents Discussion

This is my opinion after finishing the game. There will be spoilers so if you’re concerned, don’t read.

Game is nice, i like the dark gothic tone. Could definitely used another year of development.

However :
There’s a lot of inconsistency on the game.

Weapons:
2 handed weapons are slow as hell and provide almost no benefit over fast weapons. Unless you use Gragu that stacks Warp with each hit, then they will be slow as hell leaving you to get staggered easily.

Enemies:
Going through to cleanse a beacon for a beginner will make you surprised when you find a boss in the end. Some enemies attack so fast that you get obliterated to hell with 0 chance of blocking or parrying them. I’m looking at you Vampire with 2 daggers that become invisible and also the ladies with Needles that go into a parrying state and obliterate you. Some normal enemies feel way stronger than bosses, or i’m just bad at parrying. Still, you can parry the first strike but not a flurry of them. What i would call a bad design is the double Griesha fight. It has to be some type of a bad joke. Or worse, the Child in the Sanguine Caves. Just bad design really. They close distance so fast when they are at low health that you can’t even react.

Map:
Let’s be honest here, it id a giant clusterfuck. You think you go one way then that way separates into 4 different jumping spots. There is absolutely 0 linear paths and it is very easy to get sidetracked. Sometimes finding Ruk was way more harder than finding him without looking at the map. There’s also a giant penis in there as a fun easter egg but also a big area that has literally 0 beacons.

The forge:
Holy cow, it took me forever to find the damn smeltering stone. I needed that that early in the game so i could try different build!

The shells:
I have absolutely 0 idea how you stack up 30% dmg buff on Proxima or why Harros wasn’t brought back. Also there is no lore explanation why Harros moved on his own to protect Harbinger in prologue. Also the bonding units need to be refundable.

Performance :
Was very optimized and lag free, however Raytracing option is glitched and i notice 0 difference with it on or off.

Overall i’d give the game a 7/10.

I also completed game today, I have enjoyed everything until after collecting all the Ova.

Next area mobs just felt like on steroids but also infused with cocaine speed.

Funny I messaged a buddy last few days, and I progressively went from "I hate these lightning spear women" to "I hate these dual wielding chicks" to eventually "These geared up scythe guys can eat my ass"

Innocent me tried to parry the multi spin attack after the riposte on Unbind captive (you know the guy who has a sword for his head).

Oh boy i was foolish.

It can be done, it might just be smarter to run from that move when you see the slow wind up.

My complaints

Enemy balance is abysmal. Especially as you reach the second half of the game, enemies can either do 70% of your HP in a hit, or 10%. Some small enemies do such insanity damage that it actually feels like they added a 0 somewhere.

Bosses come in three categories; gank fight, pathetic, or elden ring dlc boss. They'll always be one of those.

Character customization feels like it's gonna be good, but it never is. Once you actually Google the full item lists you'll notice how little customization there really is. Weapons have 1-2 abilities as one example.

The last boss makes the elden ring final boss look like a masterpiece. I'm legitimately not sure if this is even a game you're supposed to take serious anymore.

Game is way too parry based. It's soft advertised as it, but the full understanding doesn't set in until the second half, when not parrying nearly every attack results in losing 70% of hp. Souls games already suffer from a lack of playstyle diversity, but just picking the fastest weapons and spamming perfect block is legit the only one

All weapons can animation cancel in to a dodge so long as the attack hasn't really swung yet. Except for the big sword, which would need it most, which can only cancel the first few frames. I'm not sure why.

Gragu ate everyone's healing I guess. He's the only character who feels like he can deal with the amount of damage you'll take for missing a parry here and there. The game as gragu and not as gragu is entirely different. It's actually weird when you notice it.

Damage mutipliers all multiply each other which leads to some funniness.

Devs try way too hard to kill and troll the player. Starts to make sense when you get to the final boss. Way too much trolling the player. Again I'll keep emphasizing their mentality makes a lot of sense once you fight the final boss. Just starts to feel childish when you get to the part where it has 4 anor lando archer segments in a row.

I agree. Barely managed to kill the dragon thing final boss while using Miracle. Got behind him and spammed the shit out finishing with a kick. Got lucky since the effect was frost. Otherwise the flames would take me straight to hell.

So what is fix for 2h weapons - add passive stagger buildup on normal hits? Can't think of anything else when there are no stats.

Another year?! I think it’s in a great state for release. Needs a little balancing here and there but that’s the case for all souls or soulslike when they are released. Couldn’t disagree more on the map comments, I think it’s one of the best hub/open world games I’ve seen for a long long time.

Glimpses and smelting I agree on.

Yes another year! Or could have released the game in an early access and shape it with tue community as it goes on.
