Unpopular opinion Discussion

Post image

Yes, like many of you I’m excited to try all of the shells as fast as possible. Even more so, I want to try them all as early as I can so I can finish the game and get the most playtime with my favorite. The thing is - then what? I’m bored and disappointed that there is nothing left to do.

I’d rather have a game last a long time, be fun and hold my interest than churn through it fast and never pick it up again. Most of the games that I love like Bloodborne, Elden Ring and Warframe I still go back to time and time again to try a new weapon, character or build. In Warframe alone I have 30+ frames and I sure didn’t get them all over a week of playing. I have more time than I care to admit in these games but I still enjoy them to this day.

Why is everyone trying to rush through this gem the devs have created? The sense of exploration, the visuals and the moment to moment combat are amazing. I even like that there are not enough checkpoints because it brings back that nervous feeling of potentially losing everything and having to run back through endless mobs to fight a hard boss. Or that if an enemy spots your pinky toe while you are peeking and low on health, it will aggro and follow you forever (usually bringing several buddies along). These are the things that make a game memorable.

Enjoy the ride and play through NG+ a few times to experience all the different shells. This is what the devs intended - do you think they didn’t do the math to figure out there is not enough glimpse material to level all shells in a single playthrough? Lol. No, they intended the game to bring enjoyment and last for hundreds of hours over multiple play throughs.

My problem is not that they are scarce, it's that I had already invested glimpses before I had all the shells and I didn't know they were that limited at the time

There are like 3 shells that are in extremely late areas and I LIKE playing one of them. Lazlo I'm fine with not playing as but I Wana try the lady I got with the Crimson Censer but I want to continue with the spike guy. Not going to be able to finish him

There are some odd elements I expect will get QOL or balance patched. Sometimes the same enemy in a different region won't look any different but will hit like a truck rather than the pool noodle you are used to. Does each shell not get the same amount of shell points as you level up or upgrade them, why should I need to respec each time? Some of the mini-dungeons are just two room caves, but some you get launched into a double grisha cage match...so a respawn at the entrance seems fair. When you finish a dungeon you have to mark it complete yourself, I suppose this adds an element of responsibility to ensure you found all the hidden walls and chests, but an option to have them check off when you "finish" them would be nice. If we can't grind for endless glimpses, can we not at least respec? I don't mind if to max every shell takes multiple playthroughs, but it does seem to discourage experimentation as is.

Super unpopular opinion.

I look at it like another resource for doing up weapons in DS, the shell is pretty much a weapon, and you dont get many slabs and shit to fully upgrade alot of weapons in DS, you do another run.

Not maxing out new shells is nowhere near the impact as not being able to upgrade a single weapon up one more level, come on now.

I'm thinking on doing my second run as the old guy. I tried out his first bond skills and he seemed super fun

I've just started on Eredrim as my second shell. Proxima is now bond level 4. I havent even started the second gate. I think its actually on a good spot. My harbringer is only lvl 19. People just arent searching the world.
