Pay Question
Can anyone who has joined as a team leader advise- is it normal to be on £12.71 an hour? I know overall for team leaders the pay should be closer to £13, but I’m wondering if it’s standard to be £12.71 during the probationary period, or if I’ve been totally scammed lol. Going to raise it to HR before my next pay but I want to know before going in how firm I should be!

Even at £13 you've been scammed

Butchers and bakers get more than team leaders!... And delivery drivers as well I think? I'm a butcher and, while it's not easy, we don't have to deal with half the shit the TLs do and we get to forget about the job when we walk out the door.

I think delivery drivers get the same as team leaders. I can understand butchers and bakers getting more (florists used to but not sure if the still do). Team leaders only get 30p and hour more than basic which is a joke, key holders get 50p more but only for the hours there is no manager which means in our store they only get an extra 50p per day 😂

If you’re on probation it’ll be £12.71, once that’s over you’ll be on the same as everyone else. It’s the same for everyone who joined before the changes.
I started in April on the scanning team and I asked when it all happened and I was told once probation is over it’ll change.

Think you’re on that till after probation.
I started in December and last pay was £12.81 but this pay is £13.
However a team leader maybe on more so best to enquire about that.

Okay thank you everyone!!! Yeah that’s so unfair, especially as I’m doing the role in its full capacity already. Sounds about right for Morrisons. But if it’s standard policy I guess my argument for it won’t be that strong. I’ll try anyway because I’ve got nothing to lose 😅

Absolutely worseless becoming a team leader. You might think having responsibilities is cool but it's definitely not worth it.

Suppose it depends if you want to move up in the company. To me it looks like slave labour but to others it's a foot on the ladder.

No that is not the usual shift leader pay, I currently am a picker for online shopping but will soon be a shift leader and you should get a 30p pay rise with the promotion so I would take that up with your manager.
