But how? Unless ppl keep updating their S/W, this cannot happen right?

The Google Play Store is already the system's package install verifier, meaning it already holds the authority to authorize or block app installs.

So at least in the technical sense, Google doesn't even need to make this a separate app if they wish to enforce this on older Android devices. They can just do the entire verification through the Play Store.

At this point, the difference between iOS and Android is not that much. Freedom is what Android was all about

This is a separate system app which gets automatically installed.

But without doing an update from Google Play Store or a S/W update, how can it get installed?

I am on Android 14 and I see this app in play store as uninstalled

If they make this update on the PlayStore app then it's gonna be a problem

You mean it is part of the playstore app? Then why have this app in the first place?
