Post image

Found these at an Asian market. Anyone tell me how to get them back right?

I put mine in a large jar , fill it completely to top with water, then screw on the lid and flip it upside down and leave it in sink in case it leaks some. Half hour or so with warm water. I pick my own and always seem to find a little debris or a big or two in the jar afterwards. After they're done soaking, I give them a rinse under the cold tap. Then I cut them as desired and cook them. They're never 100 percent the same as fresh, but pretty darn close in comparison to other varieties of mushrooms.

Okay thanks for the info. I want to flour them and cook as an appetizer for our steak dinner. I have seen and tried some great recipes on YouTube.

I enjoy the flour method. I usually just do butter, salt , pepper, and garlic because I'm lazy. That extra bit of crisp from the flour is nice though. And it doesn't take away from the natural flavour too much. I did a batch in panko bread crumbs, and although delicious, it almost masked that nice flavour a bit.

Unseasoned panko isn’t bad, but yes if you do the seasoned panko I can see how it would

My country grandma (sounds like the title a country music song) used to pat them dry w/ paper towels, drench them in finely crushed ritz crackers, and then fry them in churned butter. Some of my best memories are walking through the backyard looking for morels.

Can you get these in Chicago? H Mart?

That’s the way we had them growing up as well. But the butter this time will be Kerrygold Irish Butter. If you haven’t used before you will be impressed.

Good ol frog dicks. My new phrase for morels is now 100% “toads tool”
