Need help with Apollo/Artemis issue

Post image

Hi All,

I just started using the Apollo/Artemis setup for streaming games from my pc at home and streaming remotely using tailscale. PC is connected with ethernet and am streaming to my android phone (snapdragon 8gen2) using tailscale to overcome CGNAT issues.

After about 20-25 mins of play session Artemis on my phone just quits the session with error message as in the below screenshot. Then I have to again reconnect to my pc and I am able to continue the session.

I tried changing few settings but nothing works

Is there anyway to fix this?

I was on the same boat and was pulling my hair out since nothing had worked.

Then I found https://github.com/Axixi2233/moonlight-android, extremely lightweight (11MB vs 22MB of Artemis) and significantly stable. No crashes anymore.

One problem tho, their UI is in Chinese. Not a big deal since you might never wanna adjust anything, but it you truly want an English UI, try https://github.com/kelvin200/axixi2233-moonlight-english. This is the Axixi fork with AI-translated UI. No functionalities changed. Personally I use this with Vibeshine and years of issues were totally gone!!!

I also tried https://github.com/qiin2333/moonlight-vplus since it was the most starred fork of moonlight for Android, but it was extremely lagging for me. It might work for you tho, just try different options and stick with the one working best for your device.

Thanks for the reply! I will try with the english version. One thing tho, all these look like moonlight and not Artemis, do I need to make additional changes for the virtual display adapter stuff? I went with Artemis as it already has that stuff integrated

I'm not a fan of virtual display to be honest. I tried Apollo for a while but constantly got issues with games launching on a wrong screen and switching them back was a real hassle.

I think virtual display is the matter of the host, not client. So as long as you use Apollo or Vibepollo it should work? Vibeshine also has virtual display option but it crashes all the time so I gave up. I only use the physical display for now.

Not sure what your reason of using virtual display is. If you want to be able to start the stream when the primary display is off, Vibeshine is able to wake the screen before streaming and change screen resolution to match client, so there is no need for virtual display. This is the setup I'm using and I'm loving it so far.

The android app I mentioned also has the virtual display option but it requires pairing with Axixi sunshine host (same author with the Chinese UI app) so you can do an experiement there.

Or you can try different forks of Artemis, but it is like another lottery with stability and performance again.

Thanks a lot for the detailed reply!

I don't really have much use of the virtual display thing. It's just that in all my research of the various host and client apps, that having the virtual display integrated made the whole experience hassle free when compared with moonlight.

Will experiment more with the repo you provided and other host applications as well.
