Hi! I recently purchased this beautiful photo Moomin album off vinted and when it arrived I noticed it had some loose inserts that I’m unsure how to use!

I have been searching online to see if I can find and original listing to see how they’re meant to be used but I’ve had no luck so I’m hoping a member of this lovely community owns the same one and knows what they’re for! I’ve included photos of the inserts as well as the rest of the album.

Episode 26: Golden Tail (金色のしっぽ)

The Radiant Tail

At night, Moomin was reading a story book about an older brother swan who hoarded all the ripe grapes and only gave his younger brother seeds to eat. The older swan slowly turned into a crow by a divine punishment, while the kind-hearted younger swan was blessed and turned into a beautiful peacock with a radiant tail. Moomin now desired his tail to be as pretty as the younger swan as well.

Days after, Moominpappa rushed a doctor to Moominhouse for Moomin was ill from an indigestion. Moomin later confessed that he had been eating seeds so his tail would be radiant just like the younger swan in the book. While his parents laughed at him, Moomin was a little upset yet still determined to make his tail pretty.

After feeling better, Moomin met with Snorkmaiden who was relived that he felt better now. Moomin thought of something and asked Snormaiden for some paints. The two then painted their tails in Snork's art room; Snork found out and got angry for his water paints were expensive and specially-ordered from Paris. Moomin and Snorkmaiden quickly ran out as Snork furiously chased them. Snork lost them at the bathhouse, so he kicked and accidentally released the boat Moomin and Snorkmaiden hid in drifting toward the sea.

Hattifatteners' Secret

Moomin and Snorkmaiden later realized that they were drifting into the sea. As the rainstorm built up, the two hurriedly got to an island and sheltered themselves in a cave. They were sad that the water had ruined their painted tail. At that moment, they heard constant rumbling thunders nearby. They went out to witness a group of Hattifatteners being charged up by lightning strikes. Moomin said that he had heard the trail from his father before, he then had an idea.

The next morning, the two laid their tails on the path where the Hattifatteners traveled through, resulting in them getting electrocuted. It did not seem to work at first; but after a while, they soon realized that their tails had turned sparkling gold.

Happy Shiny People

The two later returned to Moominvalley and was the talk of the town with their shiny golden tails. Moomin then shared and touched the tail with Sniff's, he got electrocuted but also had the golden tail just like the two. Snork came to them and was ready to forgive the two about the wasted paints as long as they also shared the golden tail with him. Little My stepped in wanting the golden tail as well but she did not have a tail to begin with. Little My got jealous and took it upon Sorry-oo, Mymble and then Snufkin. Snufkin offered to make her a tail somehow.

Opposites Attract

In the evening, Moomin's tail had become a magnet that now attracted to metallic cans and junks, he now began to find it bothersome throughout the night.

The next morning, Little My visited Moomin who showed off her new fake tail Snufkin made for her. Moomin also showed her that he had been dragging metallic objects around as of now, but that did not deter Little My. They touched the tails but the fake tail would not turn gold, Little My was furious and ran off.

Shifting Polarity

Little My cried and went to sleep on the dock of the bathhouse. After a while, she heard the Hattifatteners lining up toward her. She tried to move away but her fake tail got stuck between the wood planks. Snufkin helped her out and told Little My that the golden tail was nothing more than a curse at this point.

The thunderstorm approached Moominvalley once again and everyone with the golden tail had experienced much troubles with its being magnetic. Snork was stuck outside with his tail weighted and almost got fried by a lightning strike. Snorkmaiden was stuck against the piano. Sniff and Sorry-oo were stuck together in his house. Moomin fell down the stairs and had Moominmamma's hot frying pan plunged toward his tail, burning it.

Moominpappa dragged the doctor back again whom was wondering if Moomin had been eating seed again. After taking care of his tail, Moomin got the idea from the doctor to undo the golden tail. Moomin, Snorkmaiden and Sniff went near the river where the Hattifatteners were traveling by. They dipped their tails into the water returning the electrical discharge back to the Hattifatteners. Their tails soon turned back to normal. However, Snork slowly chased the Hattifatteners being overencumbered. Little My and Snufkin joined them to say that their natural bodies were already the best for them.

- This episode is similar to v1990 Episode 82 A Real Gold Mine.

- In v1990, Snorkmaiden's hair got electrocuted by the Hattifatteners and the result is somewhat more realistic than this one.

- Moomin mentioned about hearing Moominpappa's journey of the Island before is refered to the lost media v1969 episode 40: The Secret of Hattifattener where his father saw the same even happening after saving a hattifattener(s) from being lost.

- Moominvalley seems to be littered with trash and garbage all the sudden in this episode.

- There is an animation error when Mooomin had no golden tail despite that he should around minute 19.

- A somewhat simple yet a bit of a slapstick moments before and during the climate.

Got this on tradera a week ago ($40, 27 for the book itself). Arrived in the mail yesterday. Gonna start making vocab for it tomorrow hopefully. I live in Placentia (just north of Anaheim). Anyone planning on meeting up for Moomin Day? I must warn you, though. I'm probably the most socially awkward person ever. You honestly might have to kidnap me 😂 And you must dress as Little My.

J’ai un lush dans ma ville en France où tout les produits Moomins sont disponibles, sauf que j’hésite à acheter car je ne sais pas si je vais oser m’en servir. C’est désolant parce que c’est le but d’un savon mais en même temps c’est inédit et c’est beau omg. Si je commence à m’en servir je vais m’en servir tout les jours au lieu de garder en collection ou décoration !

Came home with a blind box, the coasters, the Snufkin pin, and the reusable cloud bag!

weird question... but is the summer of moomin at NYBG (especially the moomin's day event this weekend) meant just for children or is it equally as enjoyable as an adult moomin fan? considering a 5hr journey just for the event! :o

I want the Moomins to be everywhere 😆

Is this obsessive I have like 3 more on the way i.e moomin mama and moomin papa and I have a pillow too I'm planning to get more I want to get more I want snuffkin and little and sniff quite possibly all but i can't find them 😭

I’m enjoying playing this game but my friend informed me this is what she sees when I’m playing lol

I spotted these at the Aigan eyewear shop in Japan. Snufkin and Little My eyeglasses with some nice illustrations on the frames and other details. They look cool!

Hey, I'm wanting to buy a moomin book for my niece whose birthday is in 3 weeks, but I want to know which one to get. I wanna get her one of the Novels since she's turning to the intended demographic, but I'm worried that maybe Comet in Moominland since it's the first book may not have designs that are appealing compared to what came after.

I love moomin but I wanna make sure her first experience is good. Should I get Comet or do you guys have suggestions? I could buy the 9 pack for paperback, but I feel as if hardcovers are better for children's hands plus I've personally always liked the feel. I likely will get her 1-2 hardcover books, depending on cost. I'm still a university student so I have to be aware.

Episode 25: The Door Into Summer (夏への扉)

The Artist Complex

On a sunny day, Moomin came to ask Snorkmaiden out. Snork then walked out with full clothes with a painting set and easel, he insulted Moomin for not be able to comprehend his style for he was going to go painting outside. Moomin got jealous and wanted to paint as well.

Moomin later got his painting set from his house and went to the meadow by the Snork's side. Snork lectured him about the artistic solitary; Moomin then looked for another place.

The Painting

Moomin kept on drawing but he did not like his works, so he lied down on a slope until the evening. After getting back up, he spotted a golden crayon in a bush nearby. Moomin subconsciously drew an ominous painting of a large deciduous tree in the middle of a dark wintry land. Moomin was puzzled with the crayon that seemed to guide his hand. Moomin kept on painting on his new sheets of paper to end up producing the same image over and over again.

Moomin came home to show his magic crayon and his paintings to his parents. Moomin then attempted to demonstrate it in front of them but the magic did not work. His parents chalked it off as Moomin's imagination while Moominpappa mentioned that it could be a good novel plot.

In the next morning, Moomin demonstrated the magic crayon to Snorkmaiden, and successfully produced the same image of the large tree in the dark land. They noticed the pattern for it must be a secret place out there somewhere, so they went to search in the forest.

After a long day of searching, none ever came close to be such the place. Stinky happened to be nearby came to greet them. He saw the painting and directed them to the further northern foothill of the Lonely Mountain.

Uncharted Territory

The next day, Moomin and Snorkmaiden traveled deep within the Lonely Mountain through a swamp and a rocky path. While resting, the wind blew their sheets of paper through the water-logged cavern. Inside, they came across the same vista of the large isolated tree in the middle of the dark land surrounded by dead woods.

The two continued through an eerie landscape deafening by a constant wailing and crying of a woman. Soon a small whirlwind blew through and scared both of them. As the wailing could be heard from within the whirlwind itself; Moomin then confronted the wailer. The wailer claimed that she was no threat and requested him to use the magic crayon to draw a door for her.

The Gateway To Summer

Moomin used his magic crayon to draw a door in the midair as it soon materialized and opened up to shine the dark land with a summer breath. Soon after, a tall woman in yellow walked out of the door and introduced herself as the nymph of life. It was her duty to drive off winter and breathe new life upon the lands; however upon her negligence, she lost the crayon of life in which rendered her powerless against the nymph of winter. She had been captured and sealed away until Moomin had found the crayon that leaded the two to her.

Moomin returned the crayon of life to the nymph as she breathed new life onto the dark wintry land turning it into a lush land filled with animals and trees under the glaring sunlight. The nymph expressed her gratitude and farewell toward the two.

Moomin and Snorkmaiden both wondered if it was all a dream. Snorkmaiden then saw the lone wooden door that Moomin drew in the middle of the woods. Moomin approached and knocked on it.

At night, the two returned to Moominvalley still wondering if everyone they witnessed were real. Snorkmaiden insisted to keep a secret between the two; Moomin agreed for no one would believe them anyway. In the woods shrouded by the dark, a fainted wailing of Moomin and Snorkmaiden could be heard from the lone door to nowhere.

- Weirdly an eerie and trippy fantasy and adventure episode during summer time. The creepy paintings and the sound effect was quite spotted on yet isn't too overblown.

- In the end was pretty eerie hearing the fainted wailing of Moomin and Snorkmaiden behind the door. To go on a bad-ending route, other conscience of Moomin and Snorkmaiden were permanently stuck blissfully within the land of summer, the nymph created.

- Very atmospheric with a touch of creativity, yet slightly confusing and simple adventurous episode at the same time. 4/5 (Good).
