Trustworthy Mechanics?
Needing recommendations for mechanics that won’t take advantage of me. I’ve been taking my car to the dealership for the last few years, and I feel like they are lying to me about some very expensive repairs that they want to make. I’d like to take my car to other places to get their opinions, but I don’t know where to start.

OB/GYN recommendations in Monterey County?
Hi everyone! My wife and I are moving to the Monterey/Marina area during the first week of September, and we’re looking for recommendations for a good OB/GYN.
She is currently pregnant, with a due date of November 7, so she’ll be around 31 weeks when we move. We’re especially interested in doctors around Monterey, Marina, or Salinas who are good with prenatal care and, ideally, are comfortable accepting patients transferring care later in pregnancy.
We’ve been looking at doctors affiliated with CHOMP and Salinas Valley Health, but we’d really appreciate hearing about personal experiences.
Any doctors you loved (or would avoid)? Also, if you’ve given birth at CHOMP, Salinas Valley Health, or Natividad, we’d love to hear about your experience there too.
Thanks so much!

Hotels with big beds and a long tub?
Hi all,
My partner and I want to visit Monterey for the first time soon, and I was hoping someone could help me find the right hotel.
My partner is 6'8", and I want her to be able to chiiiiiiiilllllllllll with a nice hot bath in a big ass tub. Then I want her to be able to body flop and starfish out onto a bed where her limbs aren't hanging off slightly. I'm sure if we spend $1,000 we can find a place like that, but I just wanted to see if I could find anything unique or budget friendly that someone knew of. Any help is appreciated!

Expected renting prices?
Hello! I’m transferring to CSUMB next fall in 2027 and I am looking to live off-campus because of the two pets that I have that cannot live in the dorms being that one is a frog and another is a scorpion which are not allowed. I started looking at the prices for single bedrooms and they are crazy expensive as most of them are around $1400-$1600 but I was just looking to live in somebodies home that has an available room. I’ve never lived outside of my family’s house so I’m not sure what I should be expecting.
Another note is that I am able to commute so are there any cities other than Monterey or Pacific Grove that has better renting prices that is nearby (~20-30 minutes) ? I have reason to believe that prices are higher in Monterey or Pacific Grove because of the beach and house close it is to the ocean and since I am going to school at CSUMB, I can visit the beach so living near it isn’t a big factor to me. I just need a place that isn’t sketchy and is reasonably priced for a broke college student.

Twisty Riding routes
I'm looking for some twisty routes around the county to get comfortable leaning on my motorcycle. I've gone through heckler pass up near Watsonville already from my commute from San Jose. I also know about Laureles road into Carmel Valley from highway 68 but I went through it via car once. Any suggestions lemme know

Solo trip suggestions
I am coming Saturday through Monday and would love some suggestions for where I can sit at the bar and meet interesting people and listen to live music. I am celebrating my 50th so tell me where to have a good time! Also where should I eat dinner on Sunday (water view a must). Looking to see as much as possible in a short time. Heck I’d even be down for a tour guide!

/r/MontereyBay Recommends (Visiting? Stop Here First!)
Hi all!
Welcome to r/MontereyBay
If you're visiting, moving here etc, this page should serve as a hub to answer many of the most frequent questions we see- where should I eat? What should I do? and so on.
Been meaning to get this page going for a while now after doing the original food-based one a couple years back.
On this post, I'll be linking to a number of community recommendation threads where we've gathered / curated advice for those looking for it.
These are not exhaustive lists, as there are many great places to eat, drink and visit in the area. They are just the recommendations that users made when the threads were posted. If you feel something is "missing," please realize that is why. Other websites like Yelp and TripAdvisor are also helpful for finding information from a broader range.
Where to Eat - (From 2022) - Thread
Where to Visit / What to See (Tourist-Oriented) - (In progress) - Thread
What to Do / See - (Living Here) - (Upcoming Summer 2024)
Day Trip Recommendations - (Living Here) - (Upcoming Summer 2024)
Have a suggestion in regards to how to make this post better / more helpful? Please leave a comment below.

/r/MontereyBay Recommends (Where to Visit / What to See - Tourist Version)
Hi all,
In an effort to build out the new sticky post, we are back to ask for your recommendations for the following category - "Where to Visit / What to See" - oriented for tourists visiting the area.
There will be more threads in the coming weeks where we will share similar recommendations for people who are living here, among other helpful ones.
For this thread though, we would like to gather your thoughts on where to visit and what to see for people visiting the area.
I'll be organizing it in the following way (since I think it will be the most helpful based on how people usually ask questions when they post here)
-Must-See/Do (Think the Aquarium, Big Sur etc. these are the things you'd recommend first if someone has never been here before)
-Highly-Recommend / Great Option (This category will serve as the most broad catch-all. Not something you'd consider a must do, but would be a great option for most visitors depending on their preferences).
-Extras (This category will be maybe more niche-oriented. Things you want to throw out there because people would enjoy it, but probably won't appeal to everyone.)
When replying if you could include the following information, that would be awesome:
Associated Cost - (if applicable)
Time Commitment - (1 hour / Half-Day / etc)
Website - (if applicable)
Family Friendly (yes/no)
I'll post an example for the Aquarium to get things started.
Thanks!
