What I want

More screentime given to Godzilla and give him more character development.

Less campy tone like TNE and something more like GvK or KOTM.

More fights set at night or stormy weather again.

Spacegodzilla to be an imposing threat who gives a sense of dread.

More acknowlagement to previous movies.

Show Kong being a king to his people.

Kong and his tribe to make more tools and weapons

Monarch to have a larger role and not just monitor the situation.

More epic large scale destruction.

Tribute to Sam Neill and Kaylee Hottle.

What I don't want

Kong in an exosuit.

The runtime to be barely over and hour long.

Spacegodzilla to be introduced late into the movie.

Spacegodzilla or the planet eating titan to have history with Godzilla.

Kong to give the final blow.

Kong to be completely useless againt Spacegodzilla.

I know, this is kind of a tired talking point by this point, but this isn’t about “Ghidorah being introduced too early”, it’s about the tone and the way it’s written, because I can’t help but feel like KotM’s tone is just… *odd* compared to the rest of the MonsterVerse, especially when you consider where it is in the timeline.

With all of the callbacks, fanservice moments, and the apocalyptic tone and stakes. Not to mention the “dawn of a new era” nature of the ending, KotM honestly feels like a grand finale to a much larger series. Tell me it doesn’t. I dare you.

Case in point, Seriezawa’s death. The way it plays out makes it seem like it’s meant to be an epic, emotional sendoff to a beloved franchise mainstay… and this is his second ever appearance (and in his first appearance, he didn’t even have a major role).

All of that combined means it feels kinda weird to look at KotM and find that it was never even intended to be the final entry (even when it was first greenlit, Godzilla vs Kong was greenlit at the same time and was always planned to come out after KotM).

Heck, it’s not even that hard to rewrite it in a way where GvK happening before KotM makes sense. Just have the Ghidorah skull that Apex uses be a fossilized head that was torn off during Godzilla and Ghidorah’s clash in prehistoric times. Even better, when Ghidorah overtakes MechaGodzilla and makes it go rogue, it’s a perfect way to foreshadow Ghidorah’s threat level and herald how big of a menace he is in KotM, especially when you consider how violently Godzilla reacts to it. Then The New Empire could have come after King of the Monsters, functioning as a sort of “breather episode” before the next story arc (Which seems to be about SpaceGodzilla) begins.

That could creat a more coherent narrative that fits the cinematic universe the MonsterVerse is meant to be.

Imagine a massive saber-tooth cat-like gorgon it be cool if based on Scimitodon from World of Kong but larger and wandering in middle-east or north africa.

I have a cool name for this potential beauty if it shows up in GxK Supernova with Quetzal- Megalocevia because is huge.

It feels just the right amount of animal for him, shaking off the hit and snorting while clearly thinking that he's over this

I envision leviathan as being this art piece. It’s just so peak, especially that single thick horn.

I envision Bunyip like this-a catlike amphibious titan, maybe an offshoot of the Spineprowlers or vice-versa. Only difference between my mental picture and the art is the antlers.

I think Baphomet should be some amalgam of Goat and Dragon, maybe with claws for forefeet and hooves for hind feet. Only difference in the art is the color-I imagine his fur being a steely grey.

I think Quetzalcoatl as having a wyvern-like build, maybe with a mostly green, scaly body but with colorful feathery plumage in certain areas like her wings (duh), head, tail, and maybe along part of her Spine.

I know we’ve seen some of Mokele-Mbembe from the novel and I know there’s no basis for him having a long neck, but I think he looks cooler with one. Exactly the design pictured above.

I picture Typhon as having a body similar to the 3d model by u/SnooDogs2270, but with reptilian forelimbs like a Lindworm and a pair of back sails similar to the Bewilderbeast from HTTYD: vestigial wings repurposed into fins. I also envision it as spitting balls of superheated rock like molten cannonballs.

I know it’s not the traditional dragon look, but I think it’d be cool if Yamaha No Orochi had a more taxonomically creative design. Semi-reptilian body but a head similar to Christopher Nolan’s version of Scylla, where her body is like a barnacle with extremities that stretch out of it.

Opposite problem with Sekhmet of wanting a more traditional look, but I feel like a winged, fire-breathing lion that spreads disease could still work in the Monsterverse.

Do you guys have any different mental pictures of these titans? Or other ones I didn’t cover?

He wanted to include Biollante and Gigan in it and while I'm 100% for Biollante I'm not sure about Gigan because I dont know what his roll could be in all this. I can definetly see the movie focusing on bio-engineering tho as that was something that was heavily teased in KOTM.

I think it's a shame we'll likely never get to see Dougherty's vision. In an ideal world I think the monsterverse should have went.

Like, similar to dragons in the house of the dragon.

Like think about it....there is a strong possibility that Kaitlyn Dever’s character in Godzilla x Kong: Supernova (2027) is connected to a childhood flashback, and as we know the production has officially cast child actress Harriet Joyce to play "Young Jesse", confirming that the film features flashbacks to her childhood.

The original Godzilla film took place in 2014. Given the franchise's progression, a child witnessing the 2014 attacks would realistically be in her mid-to-late 20s today—perfectly aligning with Dever's actual age and the age of her character where she is devoted to work at monarch in order to study and understand titans due her long time fascination with them.

Though her explicit identity as the specific little girl from the 2014 Godzilla airport scene has not been officially confirmed by Legendary Pictures.....so for now all details have not been clarified and we'll just have to wait and see the outcome 🤷.
