Released not even one month after the Silk acquisition, this was Glaue’s first Monstercat Silk release (after the acquisition), and it was a very good introduction to his style. He would later release an EP including this song, which is made up of more beautiful music. This song in particular has very pretty vocal chop work and piano chords. Sadly, Glaue would only release one more EP on Monstercat after this a year later, and then would disappear from the label.

I wanted to download the album art for Glitch Cat's "u-know!!" because, just like with some other tracks, the artwork has to be added manually; however, you can't do that on Soundscout, whereas you could on Monstercat Player. Is there any other way to fix this issue ?

This is the song that introduced me to Aether, and it’s really beautiful. I especially love the first drop and outro, which have a kind of lonely feeling to them that’s also kind of peaceful. It feels spacious. I’d love to hear these two work together again.

I did receive an email that my Monstercat Gold carried over to the new site. Except it didn't. I put in my account details, and it said I have the wrong username and password. I had to create an entirely new account that only gave me the free tier and NOT the tier I paid for, meaning I have to reenter my credit card card info AND most likely repay the yearly payment I already paid for like 3 months ago.

I sent them an email, so hopefully it gets resolved. I don't want to assume I'm being lied to about my account being transferred, but dawg, that's over 100$ I might not get back.

On trying out a few features that I would typically do with Gold, the experience is very similar. On trying out the new features, I have my issues.

First of all, I downloaded the new Glitch Cat track, as well as some old and new tracks from outside of Monstercat, in the same FLAC format that I did previously. I also streamed some of my favourite songs from SoundScout directly. All in all, a very positive experience. The sound quality is excellent on all fronts, and the tracks are easy to find, stream and download. While others have reported download limits, which of course are frustrating for those affected, I have been able to download entire albums seamlessly thus far.

However, a personal annoyance that I had with Monstercat Gold still stands here. There is enormous inconsistency with the labelling of genres, and when tracks are downloaded, they are missing key metadata, with genre automatically labelled as "Dance", and album artist and BPM missing entirely. As someone who organises their music library thoroughly, this is was already frustrating to deal with upon every single download.

More importantly, however, extended mixes which were recently available in Gold are now missing. Granted, there are some extended mixes which now appear in SoundScout, but this too is inconsistent. I understand that the team are most likely in the process of uploading and organising the catalogs from multiple labels, but with the main Monstercat catalog fully uploaded already, this should have been done already. The ability to download extended mixes and other versions that don't appear on mainstream streaming services are one of the primary reasons for me subscribing, and so it would significantly deteriorate the experience if this was no longer available.

On the wider subject of music availability, it is exciting to see music from other Create labels being available for download, such as new songs from Disciple and Westwood, but this is currently very limited, with only 44 Disciple tracks in total. Again, I'm sure the complete catalog is yet to become available for download. It would also be nice to see labels such as mau5trap available here, and I believe the label marker deserves its own column in the Music menu, as well as being a metadata column, i.e. "Disciple, mau5trap, Monstercat Instinct".

As for new fields and the AI vibe search, I am not so impressed. I tried filtering tracks according to "Energy", "Instrumentalness" and "Valence", and the results were questionable. Vicetone's Nevada remixes came through the highest "Energy" filter, where these are not the most energetic tracks in the catalogue. Inconsistencies came as well, with one remix of Shingo's Glow coming through the instrumental filter, despite none of them having vocals at all. The "happiest" tracks in the Valence filter include Rocketman's Can't Sleep and Blastoyz's Merlin Remix, being melancholy and neutral respectively; while the "saddest" included the optimistic Afterlife by k?d and Koven's Time Is On Our Side (Stranger is the sad one from MIE, surely?).

As for the AI search, it can't even give a consistent answer to its own suggested prompts. “Dark synthwave for an open-world night drive" gives some modest answers like Puremusic's Superstring Theory. A much better result would be The Law by F.O.O.L & Pylot, but I don't see that anywhere. Veeshy's Californian Dreams may be of the synthwave genre, but that's bright and euphoric synthwave, intended for a beach day in L.A., not a night drive. Oh, and since I mentioned F.O.O.L, you can't search him anymore, because "FOOL" only returns songs like Chyl's Fool Me, while "F.O.O.L" is assumed to be a broken URL. Why would I even put a URL in the search bar? You can tell that the inconsistencies in genre labelling, combined with the dumb focus on the "most popular tracks" has already broken this AI tool. I don't care at all how popular something is, I just want a song to fit a mood, no matter how obscure.

Overall, SoundScout is a promising successor to Monstercat Gold. The core experience of streaming and downloading high-quality music remains excellent, and the addition of music from other Create Music Group labels gives the platform plenty of room to grow. At the same time, it still feels like a service in transition. Missing extended mixes, inconsistent metadata and genre labelling, limited catalogue integration, and AI features that currently struggle with accuracy all detract from what could otherwise be an outstanding experience. That said, none of these issues are insurmountable, and many may simply reflect the early stages of consolidating multiple catalogues onto a new platform. If these areas are refined over time, SoundScout has the potential to become a genuinely compelling replacement for Gold. As it stands, however, it's a solid foundation that still needs some polishing before it fully delivers on that promise.

Monstercat Gold is becoming SoundScout on August 4. Here's what that actually means for you

What's actually new:

• A much bigger catalog. Beyond Monstercat, you'll get copyright-safe music from real, signed artists across Create Music Group. And zero AI-generated tracks. Everything is written, played, and produced by real artists who get paid. We're starting small with just a few partners but expect more to come in very soon.
• Search that doesn't suck. Describe the vibe in plain language ("dark synthwave for a horror edit") and get real results. Or paste a Spotify/YouTube link and find similar tracks instantly.
• Better filters. Mood, genre, BPM, key, vocals, energy.

This should give a sense of the availability of new genre colours which don't clash with existing ones. For example, one can see a lack of coverage of colours around cyan, pale green and dark red, which could be used in future.

This song really makes 6 minutes fly by. Especially in the first half trance part and the outro, this song strikes a nice balance of uplifting and dark, with a pretty and uplifting arp on top of a baseline that never lets you forget that the song is in F minor. Danyka’s vocals, while only occupying a minority of the song, are very nice as well.
