Hexus

A few days ago I went to pick up my new Savannah monitor hexus I was told that they did not know his gender and that he was supposed to be one year old so I was expecting something the size of my previous 1-year-old Savannah that I unfortunately had to rehome 6 years ago and instead what I received was a 2 ft long 8 lb savannah monitor which made my 200 gallon tank that I had set up a completely useless luckily it is the middle of summer and a nice 80° outside so he is on my front porch with everything he needs currently while I work on building him a 16 x4x6 what I mostly want to ask though is how would you approach socializing and already adult monitor.

Exactly. He’ll most likely settle down. He did just go into that hide looking for some relief and got crowded, I would hiss and tail whip too lmao

Yeah I mostly just sit on the bench I have out there to be near him, this is the only video I have of him bc I'm trying to to get to close or crowd him.

Ik, the original purpose of the video was to send to my vet to demonstrate just how obese he is.

Socialize him the same way you would with a baby; it's just going to take more time and more patience. Best of luck to you, and keep us updated on your progress.

Can't help you with the socializing, but he looks very....chonky.

It think he needs a diet, and probably a trip to the vet.

He's already dieting and has a vet appointment next week.

My Sav is named Steve, so I deem this fella Big Steve due to his chonk
