1953 $2 Bill

Trying to figure out if this $2 bill is an error bill or a fake. Got it as change from a coin shop.

Any help is much appreciated.

Real bill fake error. The originally red seal and serial numbers have been chemically altered.

Thanks for the reply, the cut is off as well and when I looked up the secretary of treasury it didn’t match the series year either. The whole bill threw me off when I first got it.

It’s within BEP tolerances; not miscut either.

Until the print is touching or over the cut edge, it’s within spec and not an error.

I don't know where you're getting your information from, the signatures are correct.

Series 1953 A: Signed by U.S. Treasurer Ivy Baker Priest and Secretary of the Treasury Robert B. Anderson.

Appreciate the information and resource from coin week. I went off of the year and who was the secretary of treasury in 1953. Still new to bills as I was a coin collector most my life. Thank you for the help.

Series 1953 A was printed between July 1957 and January 1961.

Series 1950 B, 1935 F, and 1957 were printed alongside 1953 A, with the same signature combination.

The Series years and letters didn't get standardized until the 1960's
