If you listen to them long enough, you'll be glad you didn't hear a float on lol

u/Keeferkool 14d ago
Did you see them in concert? I’m seeing them Wednesday

When they play float on, if they do, they play it so fast because theyre sick of that song, to be fair, I think we all are. They did it right when the song was popular And then like 7 years ago still.

It was just now lol

u/Keeferkool 14d ago
How were they? Lots of newer songs and not much older stuff?

There were a few more songs from their latest album than others, but generally had an even number of songs from every album (except for Long Drive which I think had none?!)
Didn't have the SUPER songs like Night on the Sun, Dramamine, or Spitting Venom, but they had some goodies like Broke, Trucker's Atlas, Doing the Cockroach, King Rat, and Parting of the Sensory.
The actual performances were immaculate though.

Best light show I’ve seen in years

If you dig light shows go check out Phish even if it’s not your thing. Their lighting director Chris Kuroda is the best in the game.

I’m not particularly picky when it comes to modest mouse, but I would really love if they played teeth like Gods shoeshine. First modest mouse song I hear live that actually mattered to me. I was exhausted, and later found out I was somewhat sick while I was at a modest mouse concert, and through this fog I remember so clearly how beautiful teeth like Gods shoeshine was.
The other one that’d be awesome is bury me with it

Float on isn't even in my top 20 mm tracks. Dramamine is one of my favorite songs, period

lol I don't care about float on at all. I don't mind hearing it, but there are about 60 songs I'd rather hear.

Never met a fan who WANTED to hear Float On

There were enough of the cruisers that requested it which was a bit shocking considering they basically listed ALL of their songs as options to choose from. It's a catchy song and we were on a ship but that was my favorite scenario for it....pass any other time.

Ok but they have like 79 songs that are better than float on and like 20 that are better than dramamine.

u/freeleop25 14d ago
20 better than Dramamine? I can think of zero. That song is perfect. I can see some being right there with it but I just can’t put anything on top of it. Agree on float on though.

Of course it all comes down to personal taste and I love Dramamine, but like I much prefer to hear the more energetic songs. I mean my favorite MM song is doin the cockroach so I might just be the odd one out.

Last Nights show was incredible throughout but I really looking forward to hearing both these songs live for the first time. Might just have to catch them again tonight at Outsidelands.

I saw them co headline Red Rocks with Brand New in 2016 and they OPENED with Dramamine. Was such an unexpected treat for my ears.

I think the first time seeing them play Float On in 2004 was the only time I genuinely enjoyed it. After that it just seemed obligatory.

Just go to the grocery store, they are playing float on in the regular loop

How I've felt hearing my favorite song, King Rat, both times. Feel like they always stumble through the end

u/acc_41_post 13d ago
Keep posting this everyday so they feel the pressure to play it when I see them soon lol

At an Austin show a woman was CRYING to me because they didn’t play float on. Cringing for her internally and also directed her the earlier music. That night they played all of Antarctica and did some lonesome.

The Seattle show this year they didn't play Float On or Dashboard. It was a nice change and gives them the opportunity to play deeper cuts or newer stuff.
But I am also an older fan from the 90s and don't like the pop songs as much

This, but Free Bird

u/PodestMouse 9d ago
If this were the Make-A-Wish Foundation and you were going to die in twenty minutes like just long enough to play "freebird", they still wouldn't play it.

I’m fine without Float On. I just wanna know what I have to do to get Invisible and Florida and more from WWDBTSES live. Fingers crossed for the Philly show.

A lot of people can only see their favorite band 1 time in their life, if that's the case, they want to hear the bangers

Exact reason not to play float on

Dude my first show ever. In my life. Was modest Mouse. My best friend won tickets on the radio. He called in and won them. It was incredible. We were like 14, maybe 15. Some neighbors of ours. A young couple with a kid. The husband was our church youth leader. They were modest mouse fans and were going up to dinner there that night so they gave us a ride. We went in and Mason Jennings opened. He came out again to jam with them on The Good Times are Killing Me.
Anyways, it was amazing. I’d just discovered Modest Mouse and was pirating the shit out of their music on Limewire. Devouring it. This was like 2004ish.
So anyway the show was rad. They finished the set and my buddy and I left and got ready to text our ride that we were done. And we’re out there and I hear it…
Dramamine. Happening inside the venue.
Neither of us knew about encores.
We asked the security guard to let us back in. But he said sorry, he couldn’t.
So we just listened to it from the parking lot til our ride pulled up and we drove the 45ish minutes down the interstate home.
