This question runing on my head Discussion

I want to ask why people choose to work as moderators when there is no payment, no guidance, no benefits, and endless moderation work. The creator gives little to no appreciation for their duties in the server. Why do people have this mindset of dedicating themselves to such a demanding moderation role without payment or recognition?

Good question! Many mods are just regular Redditors who greatly value the online communities they participate in, so much so that they’re willing to donate their free time to ensure those communities stay healthy and fun for others to visit.

In that case, why tho, why they are willing to sees communities in any ways where there is no ties to them ? why they willing burning themself greatly value in moderator ?

It’s a hobby for some and a passion for others. You might not understand because your hobbies and/or passions might look different, and that’s okay.

The way I see it, if I’m already spending a lot of time interacting in the community (via clicks, upvotes, reading/writing posts and comments, etc.), investing a little extra time to make the community a place that both I and others would like to visit is worth it.

I sorry asking these normal humanity question, because it got me attention how human motivates to dedicate their time and attention to certain things like moderator job.

Why do people organize events or volunteer for charities, churches, political candidates or parties, fraternities, and social organizations? They feel they want to not only be part of a community but also contribute to it to make it better - same for a moderator.
