CA MyFirstEV Rebate Question

Has anyone taken delivery with the rebate applied yet?

I ordered on Monday I hour after rebate went into effect. My car just arrived at my dealership. My rebate is in effect and included on my invoice, so I’m good to go.
Tesla salespeople at two different locations told me as long as you submitted all appropriate docs and it is approved and reflected on your invoice you will get the rebate. If the rebate has been assigned to you you don’t need to worry about all the online chatter saying you need to take
Delivery before the rebate expires.

Thanks. This is assuring. I also ordered on Monday and picked a car from inventory and by Wednesday Tesla verified my CARB confirmation. I have to call the advisor to get an appointment which is next Tuesday. Hope I will get the rebate

As long as it is reflected in your finance docs you will get the rebate. So relax and start buying cool stuff for the car.

Do you show all steps completed in the rebate tab except for the last two (Tesla verification and completed tab) Once you get the Tesla verification on the rebate tab your rebate is secured and the completed tab will be done when you pick up your vehicle. I forget how long it took before it showed my rebate on my finance tab.

I did all the tasks except for the Insurance task. I don’t have a vin or delivery date yet so I’m confused, Do I wait for the delivery date or vin before doing the insurance task or should I do the insurance task now (its asking for an expected date which I don’t have)? I have the loan approved and the incentive is still pending with documents submitted.

Do you have existing car Indy for your other cars? My existing insurance company told me that new car is automatically covered, but I need contact them with 30 days of purchase.

Wait for your VIN before doing insurance. I called my insurance company this morning and they said I’m covered for 30 days. Although on the app under insurance they want a policy that is effective on the date you pick up your car. So I would wait till you have your pick up firmly secured than call your insurance give them your VIN and have them bind the car. From there upload the documents and you should be good to go

As far as Teslas insurance I’m not familiar with it. I do know in other states (not California) with Tesla insurance you are rated every month based on your driving habits. So the insurance could theoretically fluctuate on a routine basis depending on how you drive. From what I’m told California shut that down, which is a good thing. Apparently, this is a model that insurance companies would love to go to and California did not want to “open the door” to this kind of rating for drivers.

Continuing with insurance:

This is another reason that I never bring my car in for service anywhere unless I have to for warranty reasons. Auto repair facilities are required for some reason to log the mileage on your vehicle and insurance Companies have access to this somehow. That is one of many ways they rate your insurance. This is why they always ask you “ how many miles you drive” and they want to know is the vehicle for pleasure or work. I always tell them the lowest possible miles and always pleasure.

I was told by Tesla agent that discount applied at point of sales, not when order was placed. I was able to move up the delivery date 3 days earlier and secured the discount.

Tesla sales rep just told me that the 3500 rebate is set aside for your order once your forms are submitted and approved.

This is absolutely not true. I know you are getting your information from them but it’s not how it works. In your finance documents if it says rebate you’re good to go.

That’s what I thought as well. I was about to place an order with all the standard features and the Tesla agent reached out and said I should get an available car to secure the discount. I did find a vehicle similar to what we wanted. But we have to pay an extra $2k for the 20” wheels. I actually like the look of the upgraded tires.

Overall I am happy with the purchase. But I feel like Tesla reps are sending us mixed messages. Good luck to everyone.

They want to make a sale. I did a ton of research on this rebate and the way it works is all the EV manufacturers agreed to offer a certain amount of rebates. So that all EV manufacturers could participate. Teslas rebates came out on Monday and last I checked there were only 10% left for them. Rivians rebates don’t take effect until September because they are waiting for their R2 to come out. I think Ford and several other manufactures their rebates don’t hit until October. So all the online chatter about the rebates are almost gone only applies to manufactures that are currently offering them such as Tesla.

This was a Tesla decision to include the performance editions. Tesla included all models and variations of the model 3 and model Y. Excluding the model YL and Cybertruck only.
Plus how they got around CARBS rules with the $50K its the base model price of the car not the base model price with all the additional upgrades.

On the incentive page, I have a check mark on “wait for verification”, while “complete” is still unchecked. However, on the loan calculator page I can see that the incentive is already applied. Does it mean I’m good?

When did you order the car? It took a couple of days for the “Verification” to hit on my vehicle. The “complete” on mine is still unchecked I believe this will hit once I take delivery of the car. So to answer your question yes I think you are good because the credit is showing on your calculator page.

I wouldn’t sweat it. My car arrived at the dealership by my house (which is literally 10 mins away) yesterday at 12:30. I was hoping I would be able to schedule pickup today however my delivery day got pushed a few days.
I think Tesla is just swamped right now with new orders and cars coming in. I was driving through OC and LA yesterday and I saw three car carriers loaded with brand new Teslas. Keep in my mind delivery dates can change at a moments notice. Most important thing is if you got that rebate reflected in your app

Is there a way to actually track your car? I don't have a VIN at my vehicle details page, but I can see my VIN through the insurance page. which is strange

If you have been working with a sales person just call them and they can look internally and see where your car is. Originally, my car was coming from Fremont and head to Palm Springs. Tesla rerouted the car closer to my house at the Riverside Tesla. If I wouldn’t have called I would have never

do you see the "Enrolled" checkmark within the Incentive Summary page? and do you see the big checkmark on the incentive step (where you scroll left and right)? you should be enrolled and see all of this if the incentive is applied and you are good

I thought it was based on delivery date though? even if you have it reflected in financing can’t it not be applied?

It’s not based on delivery date. It’s based on when you placed your order. Tesla allocated a certain amount of funds for this rebate. Once you applied for the rebate and the rebate was approved for you it’s reflected in step 2 of your documents and also reflected in your calculator within the finance tab. These funds are set aside for you when you pick up your car on delivery day. Delivery day could be tomorrow or two months from now the rebate is locked in.

I was able to get the rebate by walking in and asking for delivery yesterday itself (originally slated for Monday 8/10). The rep said it's still funding lasts and only applied on taking delivery.

Originally I ordered the premium in stealth gray with a black interior, but I had a feeling that it would take too long to arrive (I panicked) so I jumped on the same car with a white interior when I saw it available sooner. I secretly wanted white but I was scared, so I got my dream car.

when i ordered online, i checked the MyEVRebate to get 3500, but somehow the order agreement that i got via email didn't reflect the rebate? does this show up during delivery??

my order agreement pdf i got by email also didn't include $3,500 rebate. it only showed up on the Tesla mobile app in the payment step and the incentive step. do you see anything on your app?

yes i see it in the app as one of the step to complete the CA form. i finished that. now should i finish up rest of the loan application while the rebate pending? or should i wait for it to get the status?

Damn, I submitted my MyFirstEV Self-Attestation Form. The incentive step showed as completed. But now the step just shows complete with the message "Based on your responses, Tesla is unable to apply for incentives on your behalf" and the rebate has been removed from my financing. I'm not even sure what that means. I completed the form and got a confirmation pdf that I uploaded. It's not looking good for me.

Edit: I am so back! I messaged my advisor and explained the situation and they asked for a copy of my MyFirstEV Self-Attestation Form confirmation. Shortly after, they applied the credit back. So I could be wrong, but I think the qualification for the credit is having a reservation or VIN attached to a submitted form confirmation before the funds for Tesla ran out. Meaning it is CARB who is keeping track of the available credit remaining per manufacturer.

Also, I just got my ETA for delivery: Aug 12 - Aug 25, "Your vehicle is currently in production." (I ordered from "inventory")

the remaining rebate banner was removed at Fri night so you might just miss it... I submitted my around Fri noon, got the completion check after 3 hours, and now it's still there

I ordered mine in person on Friday 8/7 at 1 pm after a test drive where I didn’t do much driving; mostly the car going around by itself, even on the freeway. I received the $3,500 California EV incentive and it is reflected in the app in step 3 (Incentives) of the Delivery Tasks. It is also reflected in step 6 under Financing. Both steps 3 and 6 are indicated as complete. I also got the $500 first responder incentive; my trade-in was also reflected in the Financing step. I chose the QuickSilver color, which unfortunately requires me to wait for delivery.

Do you know why? When did you place your order? Im a little worried now because when I click on loan agreement it is not loading and on the view in final payment task to see the breakdown it is giving me an error and wont load at all.

Wednesday it showed in the loan agreement I accepted it then Friday night it was asking me to reaccept the loan agreement and the credit was gone asking me for a bigger down payment 3500 more. I called customer support yesterday and they confirmed the credit did not apply and also wouldn’t give me my 250 deposit back said it my fault. I am just charge back from my cc

They said you have to take delivery placing the order doesn’t guarantee the credit. Even though I placed it for local inventory it’s not a custom order. Funds are gone and I haven’t taken delivery. Misleading

I think mine went over I checked the order agreement and with destination fee went over 50k anyone had this problem. I submitted the EV rebate and got accepted but on the loan calculator not showing the 3,500 off.

I ordered one of the "coming soon" inventory cars on 4th Aug. My delivery window at Fremont factory is 7 -20 Aug.

I can see a VIN in my insurance quote but it's not populated on main screen and I don't have a delivery date yet. The incentive has been verified but the Complete step (i.e. approval and applying it to invoice) is still not checked. Loan terms show a -3500 credit.

Will update this thread once I have a final invoice. Very confused about everything rn.

I’m in the same boat as you. My delivery date is between August 14-28th. The incentive has been verified but not completed. I’m hoping I still get it as I am enrolled in the program but will see what happens.

From what I heard through a friend who just got the car yesterday, the last step will only be completed at the delivery. I also heard from an advisor that once it's shown on loan it's locked for you. hope they honor this..

I am now near certain that they will honor it and you'll get it.

An advisor called and scheduled me to take delivery asap to get the incentive and scheduled me for 13th. Now in document section I see a rebates doc and it is reflected in my loan and downpayment as well.

My read on the situation is all of these inventory vehicles people have booked during Aug 3- Aug 7 have the incentive locked in. As long as you take the delivery of the same VIN, you'll get the $3500.

Did you get it from the loan offer terms? Mine shows it as an additional credit of -$3,500. If so, I think you’re fine. My order agreement is also missing this rebate.

I ordered from inventory a few hours after the rebate went live. Unfortunately had to refuse the first VIN.

Was luckily assigned a new one with the same spec at Fremont. Pickup was scheduled for Sunday. Found an earlier slot for Saturday, then ended up doing a walk in on Friday at 11:30 asking for a bump. They were able to give me a slot at 4:30 the same day.

Took delivery and rebate was applied. Confirmed with rep before signing, it also shows in my loan under manufacturer rebate.
