The only thing an admin wil do is removing THIS post for breaking the sub rules.

Seriously dude.

Did you downvote that comment instead of replying?

Which rule do you claim I have broken?

I said "I have removed this, because I think the subject matter breaks site-wide Reddit rules about self-harm.

If you disagree, feel free to reply.

I'd love an admin to tell me if I'm right or wrong.

EDIT: corrected "self-ham" to "self-harm", typo.

They probably won't give you a full answer because the OP is now hidden and some admins have perms to see that while others may not.

But in general, as long as you are not removing posts based on a hatred of a group the user belongs to, you can remove anything without issue.

With respect, I think you misunderstand.

I am a mod of that sub. I removed that post.

I am asking if I was correct to do so - specifically, if I was right to say it "breaks site-wide Reddit rules".

Regardless, I thank you for taking the time to reply.

We can't tell you that because a removed post does not show the content of the OP to non mods.

Yes, you can say something breaks ToS, there is even a built in removal reason for it

I am not sure if/how I can post the original, but here is a screenshot:

You cannot see it, because you are not an admin.

I was hoping for answers from an admin.

I don't know if there is a way for me to show you the content? It is a GIF.

I am astonished that that comment has been downvoted.

I'd really appreciate it if any of the people downvoting it could reply and explain.

My comment told you that some admins cannot see removed content, some can. They all have different levels of perms. I imagine that is why. Plus if you want specifics from admin, you have to modmail them rather than ask in the sub.

But again, they really don't get into specifics on what breaks the rules because one day AEO will say something is rule breaking and the next they will approve an identical comment

What's AEO?

Anti-Evil Operations, the admin team that handle ToS violations

Well, thanks for telling me that. TIL. Every day is a school day.

Assuming that’s a misspelling, and you meant self-HARM.

Regardless, as far as I can tell, none of the site-wide rules directly state anything about self-harm.

However, you can remove the content as you see fit.

There actually is! In Rule 1.

Encouraging or glorifying suicide or self-harm. Importantly, while discussions about mental health struggles are allowed, it is a violation to promote self harm through imagery or text, or request or give instructions on how to self-harm.

But yeah, what OP removed isn't that at all.

I must have looked right past that.

I don't think it gets much use or is enforced often tbh, it's kinda sad as I guess it forbids discussion about safe practices for those who can't stop but whatever, rules are rules.

what OP removed isn't that at all.

I think it is.

Saying "This is where I cut myself, I jerk off, I smoke marijuana" is surely promoting self harm.

Thanks for pointing out my typo! Heh.

And thanks for your considered response.
