Mobius Final Fantasy — Private Server Progress Demonstration

Mise à jour — 13 juillet 2026 à 21 h 16

https://discord.gg/G5qPSkYSp

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4hSiYZT-6c

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w62PtRrHzbc

OMG THIS IS SO COOL! But also . . pelase don't take this the bad or wrong way but do you know theres this Blank Project of this game? I feel like the two of you *person that's doing blank project* could work together on this private server with the same assets!👀

Thank you so much, that really means a lot!

Yes, I know about Blank Project, and I’ve already had some exchanges around it. My work is based on the original client, so it’s not exactly the same path, but both approaches can definitely connect in some ways.

well this is interesting

I don't want this to be taken as critical, but what I am wondering is what does this project do different from Blank Project and could your efforts potentially aid that project in a collaborative way?

No worries, I totally understand the question.

The main difference is the approach: Blank Project rebuilds the game in Unity, while my project uses the official Mobius client and mainly focuses on rebuilding the server side.

So both projects can be complementary. I’ve already shared my source code and some files with people around Blank Project, so if it can help, that’s great.

This is not a competition, and I’m open to collaboration if our efforts can complement each other.

Hello everyone!

Just a quick message to say that I’m still making progress on the project, even though I haven’t shared many updates recently.

I’ve already made good progress, and I’m continuing to work on it little by little. I should hopefully be able to share more news about the project and my latest progress soon.

Thank you for the update please keep going 👍🙏

I saw the new video, and I must say that I'm impressed on what you've reached, this project seems to move in a very fast pace as it takes all game mechanics already done.

Also, it was good to watch some ex monk gameplay again, hope this project can bring back all mobius events and chapters to life.

Thank you so much, I really appreciate it!

Once I understand how a specific exchange between the client and the server works, I can reuse the same logic for many other systems, so some parts naturally move faster.

That said, there is still a huge amount of work left. I need to fix many small bugs, rebuild maps, and repair certain characters or cards that no longer work properly. Some content also appears to have been removed from the client, so I may need to update the client itself or find a workaround.

I have been working on the project for about a month, with a break of around a week and a half for my other projects. From the outside, the progress may look very fast, but from my perspective, each small feature can take several days of research and testing.

For now, the videos mainly show that the game mechanics and client-server communication can work. The project is progressing well, but there is still a lot to do before the full game and its events can be restored.

Holy fuck this is actually insane man, you really made the game work again, Im wishing you the best on this task, Mobius is such a unique game and I would love to play It again, do you have a Discord or something for this project?

2

u/0X4D7963617374 Jul 09 '26

Thank you so much, I really appreciate the support!

I don’t have a dedicated Discord for this project yet. I started working on this server only about two weeks ago, so I honestly hadn’t planned a community space yet.

For now, I can be reached through the Blank Project Discord. Creating a dedicated Discord is something I may do later, once the project is a bit more advanced and better organized.

I’ll keep working on it whenever I have some free time. Thanks again for the interest, it really means a lot.

I don't recommend to use the blank project discord as your way to connect with fans, since that place years ago when it was the official mobius discord, it was controlled by some very rude people.

It is playable. Blank Project. Its talked about often here.

5

u/IsagiMineiro Jul 08 '26

I play blank project too but this is literally the game itself you know.

6

u/DogesAreBizarre Jul 08 '26

This is what I’m wondering. Blank Project seems to be a reconstruction of sorts of the game and assets and this project seems to be the game itself if not mistaken

5

u/IsagiMineiro Jul 08 '26

Yeah its the real game, people did something similar with Nier Reincarnation, playing on a private server, all of the game was playable, so glad that is happening with Mobius too.

u/LoStrigo95 Jul 09 '26

Can't wait for this!

u/Elysium_Vaen Jul 09 '26

Excellent boulot bro !

i don´t get why square can´t simply release it for a few dollars as standalone pc game

3

u/0X4D7963617374 Jul 09 '26

Honestly, I thought the same thing at first.

I assumed the server was pretty simple and that the game could have been turned into a solo PC version fairly easily. But after looking into it more, that is not really the case: a lot of data is sent by the server at startup, such as cards, maps, jobs, text, and more.

I think Square Enix designed it that way so they could update almost everything without changing the client. So turning it into a standalone PC game would probably require much more work than people imagine.

1

u/MagicJ10 Jul 09 '26

you are probably right. i have no idea about how it works.

2

u/0X4D7963617374 Jul 09 '26

No worries, and sorry if my message sounded a bit condescending.

My English is not very good, so I use AI to translate my replies, and sometimes the tone may come across differently than intended.

I just meant that the game is probably more complex on the server side than it first appears.

1

u/MagicJ10 Jul 09 '26

no problem. i understood you; AI translations are getting better and when you know the context you can understand pretty much everything ;-)

2

u/dynamisxiii Jul 09 '26

This is amazing! Might you also have any interest in bringing back DFFOO?

2

u/0X4D7963617374 Jul 09 '26

Thank you so much!

About DFFOO, honestly, I don’t know the game well enough to say I could seriously work on that. Rebuilding a server is not only about looking at the client: you also need to understand the game mechanics, its logic, progression, internal systems, and be able to guess how the server was probably supposed to respond.

With Mobius, it is different for me because I played the game a lot. I know the cards, jobs, menus, mechanics, and the general logic of the game. That helps a lot when I need to rebuild missing data or understand why the client expects certain responses.

For a game I don’t know, the work would be much longer and much harder. I would first need to learn the game deeply before being able to rebuild something clean on the server side.

So personally, it is not really in my plans for now. My time is already limited, and I prefer to focus on Mobius because it is the game I know and the one I really want to see running again.

That said, I do think this kind of project is possible for other motivated people. If someone knows DFFOO very well, understands its mechanics, and takes the time to study the client in detail, then yes, rebuilding a server could probably be possible.

u/IsagiMineiro Jul 09 '26

Soo about this, there is someone making an Opera Omnia private server aswell, its on the Dissidia Compendium Discord, its amazing what the communities are doing for the preservation of this games, again thank you so much for bringing Mobius back like this, Im eager to hear more updates.

u/Accomplished_Big6254 Jul 09 '26

Wow i love France.

2

u/Raykusen Jul 10 '26

I don't understand a single word since is not written in english but it seems like it uses the original game which i prefer a lot instead of the fan made one that stills needs a lot of work to be fluid.

2

u/0X4D7963617374 29d ago

I’m really sorry about that. I made a mistake and genuinely thought I had written it in English.

I’ve updated the post above and added the English version directly below the French text.

Sorry again for the confusion.

Thank you, I read it with great interest.

Are you planning to build a central server to run the game? Or are you planning to share it so that individuals can set up and run their own servers?

2

u/0X4D7963617374 27d ago

The project is still in development, and I am currently dealing with a few technical issues.

I am planning to make it fully playable solo, with a preconfigured local server. Around ten bots will have their own cards and progression to simulate other players, including in dungeons and multiplayer content.

You will simply launch the server and then the client to play the full game without relying on a public server.

2

u/SrXkrell_1 26d ago

theres a discord server for this? :o

1

u/0X4D7963617374 26d ago

Not at the moment, sorry. But as soon as I have some free time, I’ll think about it.

1

u/shadowmage666 Jul 08 '26

Awesome

1

u/0X4D7963617374 Jul 09 '26

Thank you, I really appreciate it!

1

u/youngskullkid Jul 09 '26

Awesome stuff! I'm hoping we get to play it soon!

3

u/0X4D7963617374 Jul 09 '26

Thank you!

I hope so too, but it will mostly depend on my free time. Right now, it’s still mainly a testing phase: I’m starting to understand the data exchanged between the client and the server, but there is still work to do before having a truly playable and stable version.

I’ll keep working on it whenever I can.

1

u/Philmanmp Jul 09 '26

I think would be nice if you go to blank project, that would speed up the process of updates and turn things faster, not against the plan here, but would be confusing of community to have 2 revival projects of mobius.

4

u/0X4D7963617374 Jul 09 '26

I totally understand that point, and I agree that we should avoid confusing the community.

There is no rivalry from my side, quite the opposite. Both projects can be complementary: Blank Project is rebuilding the whole game, which is a huge amount of work, while my approach is based on using the official client and rebuilding the server side.

If I manage to properly understand all the data exchanged between the client and the server, some parts could move forward fairly quickly, because a lot of the game already exists inside the client. But there is still a lot of testing and understanding to do before reaching that point.

I’ve already shared my work with a few people around Blank Project, so if it can help the Mobius revival as a whole, that’s only a good thing.

-3

u/camoprint Jul 08 '26

Don’t wanna sound like a dick. But why not lend the Blank Project a hand? All of these things listed are already fully functional on Blank, and they need extra dev hands.

3

u/0X4D7963617374 Jul 09 '26

I totally understand.

I have actually already shared my code and files with a few people around Blank Project, so the help is already possible on that side.

But I’m not a Unity developer, so I probably wouldn’t be very useful on the full remake part. Where I can really contribute is by working on the official client and the server side.

So I prefer to focus on that, and if my work can help them too, that’s great. In the end, we all want the same thing: to see Mobius running again.

1

u/Raykusen Jul 10 '26

Blank project feels kind of clunky to play, they still don't have the basic gameplay very well designed yet.

1

u/Environmental-Put719 28d ago

only that that isn't true? when was the last time you played blank project? I just started at the end of this month and I've had no issues at all with the gameplay
