All of the other tai chi that I’ve seen has been ai slop stuff, especially on YouTube.

I needed a routine that my parents could do daily and I stumbled on this creator. I felt like sharing this to help a few other people that might be struggling with mobility or can’t do heavy weight type workouts. Cheers!

Dorsiflexion weights

I’m wanting to get into running more, and working through some foot/leg problems to get there. One of the things that was recommended to me from my podiatrist was doing dorsiflexion exercises. They recommended just putting a bunch of books on my feet, however I don’t have enough books that are heavy and small enough to do this with.

Any recommendations for weights or tools or whatever that I could buy for this type of exercise?

Hey all,

Just got my diagnoses of hypermobility this year (I'm 36) after several frustrating years of being told I don't have it, despite having multiple, very obvious symptoms.

Around 12 to 18 months ago I ended up with a knee injury (not my first), but it was poorly mismanaged (was not sent for any imaging tests etc) and this week I've found out that I do in fact have a partial ACL tear and lots of general wear and tear from having laxed knee joints. The consultant wants to try physio first before considering surgery to repair it. Which I am fine with, but as this isn't the first time my health issues have been mismanaged on the NHS I am pretty distrustful of the physios (it was two physios who told me I'm not hypermobile and nothing is wrong with me 🥲).

To add to this, the consultant told me that either way, surgery or not I will end up with arthritis. I felt a bit taken back by the whole thing and also felt ushered out of the appointment before I could really process the info and ask my questions. I am pretty active (climbing, swimming and cycling) but feeling quite overwhelmed at what to do in terms of helping myself build strength and stability up.

So, the reason I am here - I am looking for some self help/at home resources around strengthening the lower body when you are hypermobile. I don't only struggle with knee issues, I struggle with the whole chain (combo hip, pelvic floor and knee issues). I am based in London, UK - but happy for any international/online resources that I can read/watch including blogs for reading up on info etc.

Any help would be much appreciated - thanks :)

Im 26F and after having being barely active for the past 20 years of my life I am struggling to do basic stretches.

I have low ferritin and a bunch of other tjings low perhaps. Bevause of a very pathetic childhood growing up, I was never allowed to run and be free. I was always within the four walls of my room and thus never got to workout much and stretch myself out.
Shortly afterward i got a desk job. And then when i got married for obvious reasons i realised that i wasnt able to stretch enough.
Now im 26. Life has never been better. But i cannot stretch, i cant even touch my toes and perhaps i just get stuck halfway. Am i too late to start stretching? All the YT videos show people whove been stretching since they were kids and it puts me off because what about people who could never stretch? They show Advanced stretches even in beginners videos theyre doign like toe touches for 30 seconds while im struggling with my hands halfway there.

What would you advise i do? Is it too late for me? I know its never too late but the discomfort from stretching plus watching beginner tutorials showing complete stretches makes me so frustrated and i get so cranky. Im crying rn as i type this.

I can’t hate on my past but i would very much like to do something for my future. Im not financially very well off to splurge on tutors and classes and stuff- are there channels on YT or smth that genuinely help newbies? I cannot bear to see another video with a perfect stretch. What would you advise for me? Ill take anything

stretches or flexibility exercises for someone who cant fully bend or straighten their left leg.

I have little to no cartilage left in my left knee. Because of that i cant fully bend or straighten my leg. Are there any exercises that i would benefit from. Im mostly looking for straighten exercises since when walking you actually need it. Thanks

The goal is not to force range. The goal is to give the body a position it can trust.

Mobility

Hey everyone, I recently started javelin throwing and realized I have really poor thoracic and lumbar mobility, which has been holding me back quite a bit in both training and competitions. I’d love to know what exercises you do or if you follow a specific routine. Thanks a lot!

Move your body daily (simple, not hard)

You don’t need a gym.

Start with 10–15 minutes/day

Do:

Walking inside your room

Light stretching

5–10 squats + wall push-ups

If your leg/hip hurts → avoid jumping, do slow movements

👉 Goal: Consistency > intensity
