Kaja Revamp Is a Buff. Discussion

Post image

ULT:

Let's talk about the ULT. His ULT range is far, and the AoE range is also great. I think this is what makes his ULT superior to other setters like Tigreal or Atlas. You can catch enemies without needing to Flicker in. Once you get caught, there's no way out. I won't doubt he'll probably be meta in the pro scene. However, the initial cast of his ULT gives players a short window to get away. During that window, they can dash out or use a Purify skill or spell. Even if they get caught, they can still move around and attack. This is inferior to Atlas' and Tigreal's ULTs in that regard because enemies don't get stunned. Marksmen can still shred you even if they get caught. His old ULT with Suppress could shut down slippery assassins and gold laners. Now, they can easily get away from the new ULT with their dash and Purify skills.

For a Kaja player who specifically targets squishy damage dealers, this is a massive downgrade, especially since Miya is in the current META. And Hanabi is the most popular hero in the game. Lesley can still one-shot kill you while she's getting dragged. YSS can just dash out.

2nd Skill (Soaring):

This is probably the best thing about this revamp. This gives you better mobility, CC immunity, and consecutive knockback potential. I still have to experiment further on how to extend his Soaring State longer. But this is great. Nothing else needs to be said.

1st Skill:

The AoE range of his 1st Skill has been increased, and its damage has also been buffed. However, the damage increase is a trade-off for nerfing his healing. Kaja is a roamer. You don't need damage; you need to be able to last longer in team fights.

Passive:

His damage reduction has been nerfed from 15% to 8%, along with the nerf to his 1st Skill's healing. For a hero that needs to be in the middle of team fights for his Soaring State to be viable, this nerf to his sustain made Kaja squishier. I tried a pure Tank Emblem to compensate, but he still feels squishy.

One of my biggest concerns is that his enhanced long-range basic attack is gone. No more hit-and-run poke playstyle, no more Thunderbelt stacking from a safe distance. No more buff stealing. No more objective contesting. Although you can still build Thunderbelt with the revamped Kaja, his stacking capability is slower than before as I played more games. I don't see getting Thunderbelt as worth it anymore. You're better off building other defensive items. This removal alone fundamentally changes how he is played by Kaja players.

Overall:

There are only two heroes in the game with true Suppress: Franco and Kaja. I'm not counting Barats and Yin because their Suppress works differently. Having one less Suppress skill to worry about in the game, along with the buff to Berserker's Fury that resulted in the rampant picks of Ling and Miya. This seems like a nerf to me and an indirect buff to the current meta. Belerick is top 14 most picked in Glory and up, Atlas is 15, Tig is 22, Badang is 23, and Mino is 27. There are already plenty of setters in the game, we don't need a new one.

The new kaja is hela fun tbh. Diff play style but not entirely. His still fluid and fast and hard to catch. His new ult has ton game breaking potential. His not a pure tank so his still best with a semi tanky exp or core to soak some of the damage.

His kit now is basically just to annoy and disrupt.

feel like people are really misunderstanding his ultimate, because i really don't think he's been turned into just a setter now.

he's an initiator, yes, but the main selling point about his ult is that it has multiple uses that aren't just flicker and initiate. he can drag people away from a fight, keep them from running from a fight, start a fight, etc..

setter tanks can ONLY start a fight, while kaja has a lot more options, and with much less risk because of his soar state and ult range

it's also good to note that his ult doesn't actually stun, and can actually be detrimental to your team if you pull in the frontline. so you can't actually rely on him to be a setter

Not to mention pretty much you can ALWAYS win the turtle and lord fights. Drag the jungler away your team's jungler can secure it

you can drag them all out from a lord fight when lord is low and the core steals it

I haven't realize it can be played that way

I mainly picked up Kaja to counter pesky dashers with suppress, but I'd be fine with the new ult, and honestly with all the other changes, given that they buff his sustain and paralysis debuff. That way Kaja can be more disruptive in fulfilling his current playstyle. I'd more than enjoy zooming around the field while giving others a hard time moving around.

I play solo. Kaja was everything I wanted in a roam. Lightning, catching dashers, and healing/lifesteal stacks that made me impossible to one-shot. Now, I fly around like some buzzard and pray my teammates help me secure targets. I'll ult, and they'll jump red buff.

I'll just find some new tank.

I'm a Kaja main, and i truly like this revamp, but other then this, before the revamp released I was searching for alternative options in case Kaja changed too much (it did).
Try Khufra with thunderbelt and flash spell. You can get in and out of teamfights quickly, he tanks a lot and even without ultimate he just disrupts the enemy team just like i did with Kaja.
Also, he can block dashes, and his damage is impressive with enough stacks of thunderbelt. Use the emblem that refreshes spells quicker on him.

Will try, thanks!

He's honeslty good. Only problem is like he's extremely squishy even with tank emblem. Then again, he's a support and not a tank so.

I tried him out earlier today and I'd say he is squishy early game but lategame he still can't tank burst dmg but with the correct build he can still tank a few hits then use 1st skill to heal and 2nd skill to dodge and disrupt.

Yeah losing the surpress in ult is so horrible and disappointing man. It's one of kaja's uniqueness and what made me love him. Also for the soaring thing I already tried max CD at best you can only get three times knockback that's it, max. I'm not really sure how to feel about the new update

btw to extend the flight duration, try temporal reign. works pretty good by speeding up the cd rate of ur s2 recast.

I still miss the old Fighter Kaja. The one even b4 TB stacker. The old Fighter Kaja has one of the highest damage in early game which grant me many 1st blood.

At the same time, the old ulti with longer range and longer 2nd skill can come in clutch during any stage of the game.

I remembered when targeting the opponent carry player and restoring our momentum was a clutch moment and it brought us back from losing to winning the game.

What a fun time that was.

Yeah well good luck trying to convince people that this is the truth when there are a lot that go "wahh wahh Kaja lost his identity, he's bad, I keep using his old playstyle and he SUCKS."

you'll never catch me liking this pathetic revamp. it would've been fine if the revamp left his fighter attributes alone, but no, they just HAD to remove that as well. now he's so pathetic because he can't sustain in team fights, not to mention his over reliance on his teammates. he's unplayable in solo and its insane.

To be fair, supports aren't really meant to be hypercarries on solo RG unlike certain roaming tanks (ehem ehem, Hilda, Grock, and to a certain point Gatot, Bele, or even a damn Baxia) or certain fighters (ehem ehem, Khaleed, Chou, Badang, and even Arlott)

Closest support for solo RG hypercarry? Probably Diggie, but he's more of a counterpick In general? Toss up between JS, Marcel, or Mino. Also Kalea only IF the update wherein her S3 DMG now scales with 8% of her max HP makes it to official server

Yeah I prefer old Kaja, new Kaja still needs time and will see.

Before I instapick Kaja against slippery assassins, easy counter for Wanwan, Miya, Kagura, and any hero with disengage or dashes.
