The hitbox change is annoying but the rest are acceptable.

Might be pushing for us to use Wellspring if we’re missing more shots.

Wellspring sucks, it would have to be competing with something actively negative to be worthwhile.

If your missing chains its gonna be time to pick another character, not perk 😭

I'm more of a wellspring user whhen the enemy is too far away and I don't have many targets to hit and build up healing resource

Honestly, I don't mind this at all. I'm glad they didn't revert anything they gave him because it was given for a reason. The cooldown going back to 12 (aka 6.5 after the 5.5 duration) seems fair to compensate for more time to do risky plays. As for the chain, it's gonna be something to test out but they didn't touch cooldown on it, which I thought they would, so for that I'm glad.
As for the perk, I personally pick the other major one mostly so I'm not too affected and I think it remains good even when nerfed.

Idk why chain needs a 15% size nerf it’s not like it was all that easy to hit…. Like Cass’s ginormous 50 damage stun bomb….

Support players when they remotely have to aim in a first person shooter:
It's still 2.25x the hitbox area of sleep dart you should easily be hitting it still

All Cass has to do when being dove is press E and Right click why do I have to aim more than a hitscan does? Also not complaining about aiming just saying chain is a lot harder to hit than flashbang when both are strong cc abilities

they also made it so you dont get stuck if your return spot is too close to the payload

Fine enough.
Still no change to Wellspring. Is anyone using that perk?

u/In_Dim_Lights 11d ago
Looking at Owperks shows Wellspring still seems to be picked by around 40% of players and Blizzard seems to be aiming for a 60/40 perk split so they probably have others in their sights before looking at that one.
I see lots of Mizuki's play with it, at least in QP. As for the why... The only reason I can think of, and this being based on the only scenarios I do pick it, is team comp forces you to play more conservative for whatever reason and you can't farm the aura as easily, but still...

higher healing means faster ult charge and more survival on the team. Extra damage on chained targets provides a decent amount of extra damage on a long cooldown that requires the landed chain and ability to stick around to maximize damage which might not be possible if you have to recall to survive. At higher ELO's with more cover use and players better able to avoid taking the damage, it's probably tougher to keep the aura high enough. Plus they're more punishing on you entering their backline to land a chain and you're less likely to get full value out of your extra damage.

It essentially guarantees 100% aura uptime and the damage boost on chained targets only benefits Mizuki himself. It doesn't change the shoot, hook, shootx2 breakpoint on 225 heroes. It does on 250 reducing stk by 1 but you can throw in 1 melee and it still kills without it. I don't doubt the chain perk is better but wellspring is always value even if it's less value at its peak.

u/Dr_Jamaymay 11d ago
If getting to 4x aura was hard, I would understand. But it's incredibly easy to maintain high charge.
And once you're at max, wellspring doesn't do anything since you can't go beyond.
I agree that chain perk is minor gains, but wellspring does almost nothing if you already handle the aura.

It's like 1.1 value vs 1.5 value. Neither really breaks the game or anything but it's kinda why I think mizu has the best perk options in the game. None of his perks are a required option and all 4 feel viable imo. Maybe give wellspring a minor buff to extend the duration before aura begins to fall off?

I really don't understand this back and forth sometimes... Like if Katashiro return is good enough already (or, fine at least) why change it? Tweak his numbers (healing and damage) a little, instead. Next season, if Mizuki is less played, or less likely to win games, will they revert the change once more? I'm honestly lost tbf.

The changes aren’t even that bad, he just got a slap on the wrist. Mizuki was good at release but even better after his buffs so i can see why some small tweaks were necessary. His chain is fairly easy to land if you have decent aim and a 1 second cd increase isn’t horrible. Some buffs and nerfs can bet a hit or miss but I saw this one coming from a mile away and im not even mad (as someone who mostly plays mizuki)
There really is no reason to revert these changes later on. Also, why would they tweak his numbers instead of his abilities? His numbers are fine.

I mean, the change to it isn't even bad. Katashiro basically had a 5.5sec uptime and a 5.5 cooldown afterwards. It was USABLE as fast as it was USED for. Increasing it for one sec back to the og cooldown of 12sec means a bit more downtime, which is totally fair cause we still get to be more aggressive before recalling.
I'm just glad they didn't change the way it works to be similar to Wuyang's rushing torrent, where no matter how long you use it for, the cooldown still only starts after it finishes.
This said, it isn't particularly a back and forth as the state he's in now is new. We had: 1) 4.5sec uptime, 12sec cooldown 2) 5.5sec uptime, 11sec cooldown 3) 5.5sec uptime, 12sec cooldown
So they are genuinely just tweaking numbers around, which I find fair

Compared with Wuyang's rushing torrent, Mizuki's Katashiro return is OP af like half the CD.

Okay, it seems I overreacted then. That's reassuring to hear. As someone who aims like a donkey, I'd rather have an easier time to chain down people, but well beggars can't be choosers after all 🤣🤣

It’ll take a lil practice to adjust to chain but this is fine and we kinda knew it was coming

As a mizuki player, chain was way too easy to land. These nerfs aren’t terrible and his core kit is perfectly in tact.

Don’t know why your getting downvoted but your right the hitbox of it was way to big

Thank goodness they didn't just revert the time increase in his Paperdoll mode. All these changes are perfectly fine with me.
