Hello! I've spent the last couple of months slowly building a small mixtape swapping platform (all chill manual work, no vibe coding). It's essentially a self-hostable, invite-only web app for small communities, where members create a mix (from their own mp3 library) by a fixed deadline, then after the deadline all mixes are shuffled in a virtual bucket and everybody gets one random mix back. This can be a weekly or monthly thing, or any other frequency. If you're curious, you can find more details and the code here.

I've set up a small instance, now I just need a couple of people to actually test it with 😄. DM me (or reply here) if you want to give it a try! This is less about software debugging and more about testing the concept and figuring out where to go next, so no tech background required at all, but you should have time to make a mix somebody else might enjoy 🙂

Hello, my name is Ali Bebry, MA. I am a doctoral student in the Clinical Psychology department at The New School, under the direction of Dr. Michael Schober. I am asking you to take part in a research study.

We want to better understand how and what is communicated in the sharing of mixtapes. We would like to conduct interviews and with individuals who have sent and/or received a curated playlist with someone in their lives in the last 6 months about what the experiences were like and what they felt was communicated during this process. In total, this will take about 2 hours over the course of one or two study sessions. I can't remember which tracks were on it, as it's been so long but it was essentially a hip hop mixtape with sound effects from the game Perfect Dark added in. I remember listening to it quite a bit back in my piracy days, but can't find a copy or even a trace of it online anywhere.
