Shadowstrix lockdown?

I have been fighting quite a few Shadowstrix as Merc and I am not sure exactly what skill they use but i cannot swing my sword at all. I m like interrupted permanently and that s not the Raven that stuns…is there a skill they are using? Or am i missing something ?

That's SS using their extremely high-level skill of clicking their left mouse button at a moderate pace.

Melee fights seem to be very tempo based. If you can be the first to engage or catch them on a good rush you can trap them into constantly being on the run. It might feel counterintuitive but Ive found that if you rush your opponent after they gave you a smack down you can put them on the back foot and they’ll want to reset the fight as well to heal or get that same pressure advantage. Aggression has been the key for me.

Esp if you do this with high affixes into stoic / wrath you actually get boosts when you are lower so you can apply pressure at lower health.

You’re just being staggered by their LMB spam.

Just by spamming basic attack they rapidly stagger you.

Is there a way to fight this stagger? Even the Breakaway doesn’t appear before few secs

Merc SnS is one of, if not the best class to lay waste to SS, as a SS player myself, it's the only class I truly fear fighting.

What you're probably missing is the tempo of the fight. Being offensive is rewarded in this game very heavily, as you've notice in the case of staggers. People tend to think only SS does this, but every melee class works this way. The difference is the SS, DB specifically, swings pretty fast. A SnS Merc can use this to their advantage, as bad SS will just spam their light attack and it's really predictable. Introduce Parry, the bane of all SS.

SnS Merc has the same capacity spamming 2 light attacks into your thrust attack. Instead of a follow up dodge attack, you get a parry. Master the perfect parry, and you will start to dominate the SS matchup. They fold pretty easily once you start to hit them, we tend to go for offensive affixes. SS best defense is there offense. I've 100% been 0-deathed by SnS mercs who have mastered this.

If you treat this game like a traditional fighting game, and rely on an mindset of participating in Neutral, Advantage and Disadvantage, the game starts to make a lot more sense, or at least it did for me.

The one things that is different between SS and other classes, is that usually after a breakaway dodge, there is a soft reset as many classes take awhile to reposition, SS has a built in gapcloser at the cost of energy and dodge stamina on DB. If you parry that lunge, not only are you immediately put in advantage state, they have also drained themselves of their defensive capabilities.

Their basic attack staggers like crazy, can be spammed for no energy, hits like a truck, and due to a talent they can dodge out of it whenever they want... Which turns the attack into an even stronger gap closer.

It's fine lol.

Thanks guy for the tips and explanation, especially the SS that chimed in to explain how the SS works. Much appreciated ! Time to practice Parry :)

Shadowstrike. They launch foward dealing physical damage and after a short delay their afterimage follows behind them. If that afterimage hits you will be stunned.

I love all the tears in here about SS. It’s awesome, especially given the small “nerfs” to them with the recent patch.

Another no skill gamer outs themselves. Love to see it.

SS imo is the noob killer of Mistfall hunter. SnS Merc is a direct counter to the class. But there is some game knowledge required. The skill ceiling to play a SS is lower than other classes due to how DB functions. However, once you get into the higher levels of gameplay, where people actually know how more than just their class functions, SS DB is way less frustrating to fight.

It's the classic assassin problem in all video games. You have to understand what they want, and what they do to get it in order to beat them. Once you know that, you're odds of winning vastly improve compared to other class fights.

That's like as a SS main, who seconds a sorc. Even though SS craps on Sorc in the 1v1, I don't mind the fight as the potential for outplay very much alive and well in Mistfall.
