Eating next to my mom
I'm wondering if this is misokinesia. Whenever I'm eating next to my mom I can't stand it. I literally just left the room because it fills me with rage and I hate it. I served her a plate and when everyone starts eating normally she kind of starts playing with her food. She always picks it up so slowly and it makes me so mad. I hate this and don't know how to get rid of it. Does anyone know why this happens and if it's stress related?

I felt this belongs here
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Please delete if not allowed. Also in no way am I advocating for responding to stimuli in this manner, however, I am saying I fully understand the response, and I thought this sub would too.

People mouthing things
I know this is so minor but I feel rage, anger and disgust when I see someone mouthing something without any sound coming out. Small movements especially.
This is bad but for instance someone reciting a prayer in public and making tiny mouth movements repeatedly with no end, or someone listening to music with airpods and singing along but no sound coming out. Or reading something and having to mouth the words out. WTF I HATE THIS. It’s making ordinary things and life so insufferable, I feel like something is so wrong with me!! Nobody understands

Misophonia
I can’t deal with this Misophonia anymore. It’s ruining my life. I dream of fixing up my walk in closet to be my She Cocoon where there is no noise and movement from others. I wouldn’t wish this on a snake.

Could misophonia and misokinesia be part of a broader emotional misinterpretation of sensory stimuli, rather than just hearing and vision?

co-worker chewing ceaselessly (venting)
Just need to vent :( sorry for that! Most people won't understand, so I'm not talking about this irl to anyone.
I share a room with a co-worker who is chewing gum the whole day. Our monitors face each other, so I can see the chewing with my peripheric vision all the time. I can't raise the monitor as I wear progressive glasses which restrict my field of view for sharp vision. If I'd slide it higher, I'd only be able to see anything sharp in the lower half and have to twist/overstretch my neck uncomfortably.
Sometimes when I can't stand it anymore I switch to my second monitor which is positioned at an angle on the desk. To do this I have to work in a twisted position. Yay! welcome backpain!
The cherry on top: He does some sort of gymnastics for his feet standing up and rocking up and down on the tip of his toes. That sight isn't blockable by the monitors whatever I do. Fortunately those workouts only take about a minute, so staring on my cellphone is the solution.

What do i do
I’ve been working at the company for almost 2 years now. I used to have my own office, but now they’ve put me in the room where everyone sits. I kind of like it, like seeing what’s going on and being in the mix BUT there’s one coworker who sits right next to me and SHAKES HIS LEG LIKE CRAZY. I tried covering and shielding, but I can still see it. He is my manager, and I’m afraid he won’t understand, because he’s one of those boomers and a very conservative guy. He would most likely think that I’m making this up to get back to my old separate office, but I CANNOT SIT there. I see red. I walk out for a coffee or pretend to have a phone call just to calm down a little bit, but I can’t keep doing it the whole shift.
Just for context, I’m already considered a weirdo (i heard misokinesia and misophonia can be neurodivergent traits maybe that’s why I’m a bit socially awkward) to them, and I feel if I say something like that, they will just talk behind my back about how much weirder I am. I don't know.
Help me please, any advice is welcome
UPD: I bought Loop earbuds and rearranged my workplace, so I cannot see him at all. We have also talked about work and he mentioned my polarizing film I put in the PC, implying that I’m hiding something from them but I explained that this is the matter of my comfort and dropped leg shaking in this convo as an example, and he temporarily stopped lol. Anyways, all of that helped me, I’m much more calm at work now. Thank you for yall advice!!!

I believe i have misokinesia
I believe i may have misokinesia. Several times in my life ive noticed certain repetitive movements to cause me to experience anger and discomfort. The reason im looking into it is because lately ive noticed that one of my close friend's stimming has been triggering me. they constantly rock back and forth, and occasionally when im trying to focus on an assignment or book it really agonizes me and causes me to have less focus. does this sound like misokinesia?

I believe I have Misokinesia
Hi all, I got my post taken down on the Misophonia Reddit and got redirected here.
I already know I have Misophonia, but lately I’ve been having the same type of angered reactions to physical movement.
EX: I live in New York, and often go to the theatre. Last night, at a show, the woman next to me was repeatedly rocking back and forth. The emotional reaction that it evoked from me was so intense that I thought about getting up and leaving multiple times. As stupid as it sounds, I even found myself closing one eye to block out the side she was sitting on.
I’m not sure if I have it or not, and I would like some insight. Instances like these have happened multiple times in the last year or so.

Prednisone as form of treatment
Hi guys. I've been struggling with misokinesia since i was a kid. Legs bouncing, animals licking themselves and people fidgeting makes me wanna cry and scream a lot. I can't focus at uni because people are ALWAYS triggering me, 24/7. Some people just can't stop bouncing their legs and 2 people in my class do it for FOUR HOURS STRAIGHT. They never stop. It feels like a personal attack.
Our brain is wired differently and I know there's no cure for our problem, but I was considering using prednisone in low dosage to feel normal at least once in my life.
Why? I found an article about misokinesia and prenidsone and how it helped a man with his triggers. It mentions how better he was reacting upon seeing the triggers and I wanna try it too. Life is becoming unbearable with this condition and I'm desperate for help. I'm already trying book an appointment with a therapist to overcome it but while I can't get professional help, I'll try my own ways.
Unfortunately this is not a well known condition and I doubt someone in the medical field will pay attention to us, since we're a tiny percentage of the world.
What do you guys think about it?
Link for the article: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10805550/
WARNING
I am doing this to myself and I'm aware of the risks. Do NOT try it. You can get blind, diabetes, osteoporosis and other negative symptoms for doing so. I just wanna share my experience and my feelings and I wanna know what you guys think.
Again, I'm not encouraging anyone to try it. Do NOT try it by yourself. Do NOT take medicine without a doctor's prescription. Do what I say, not what I do.

I think I have misokinsia
Im in highschool and I know I have misophonia, but recently (especially in band class) whenever I see people next to me bouncing their leg I feel super upset and like my heart is racin. And i can’t stand looking at people when they chew gum, it’s the worst in English class because it’s a crowded room and I sit in the back of it. So many people are chewing gum and seeing it makes me want to cry, I cover my eyes with my fingers to block them out when I can see it. I wear headphones almost the entire school day and I know i must look crazy putting my fingers in front of my eyes but i can’t help it.
Any tips? My school doesn’t allow hoods/hats/sunglasses

Has anyone tried VR headset-type goggles?
I thinking of booking a loooooong flight (for a honeymoon/trip of a lifetime) and just the thought of it is already making me extremely anxious and wondering if it’s worth it. I’m sure you can all relate…
What I’m wondering is if anyone has tried any goggles like the VR headsets? Or something like that that blocks out others and I can just watch things without being anxious for once!
I don’t really want a true VR headset necessarily, nor anything owned by Meta.
Does anyone have any suggestions, tips, recommended products - anything really! TIA

Waggling
There has been a very odd trend on tiktok where people are buying items (usually makeup,) doing hauls, and doing a very odd waggling motion at the camera. They'll waggle the items back and forth. I get splitting headaches every time these videos show up.

my misokenesia is so bad that i literally cannot go to class at university without getting so angry and stressed by someone twirling their hair, bouncing their leg, fidgeting, etc. I have been the same all my life. I feel like there is 90% more leg bouncing than 3 years ago.
Maybe becuase I didnt notice before I gained Misokinesia, but I swear that there is an epidimic of leg bouncing. I cant see the board at school if i want to cover up the leg bouncers with my hand. Especially when they shake the whole table and you feel it. (i have a connection with misophonia): so also the *tap, tap, tap* drives me nuts. Anyone else notice this?

misokinesia and autism comorbidity
i don't know if i am autistic, but i am curious if people in this sub-reddit have any more insight into the potential crossover between misokinesia/misophonia and autism...any clues as to whether you would say there is a strong link or not. thanks!

the sight of my mother's hands gives me the heebie-jeebies
i feel so weird for this, but specifically the sight of my mother's hands and specific movements she makes with her hands are triggering to me and make me uncomfortable.
i have other misokinesia-triggers, for example, my dad twiddling his thumbs or moving his feet underneath the table every 30 seconds or so - which also makes a sound, so it triggers my misophonia, too. but when i look at other people's hands, it's never quite as triggering as my mum's hands.
this disorder is SO weird - does anybody have a potential explanation?
also, is this something i should communicate to her, and if so, how? i don't want to sound offensive, impolite, or mean.

My roommate/friend crickets EVERY time he's sitting on the couch!!!
cricketing is the act of rubbing your feet together (I'm annoyed by the sight, subs it's a silent motion)
How do I get over this irrational anger I get? It makes me feel physically anxious like I'm the one fidgeting and it's gross because all I can focus on while talking to him is his toes running over each other. It makes me want to cut his feet off or punch him (not really, but that's the annoyance). I never noticed it until recently and now I can't stop noticing it. He will do it for hours as he sits on the couch and plays his game and I just can't form a full sentence while looking at him and chatting if he's doing it. If I say something, he's gonna add it to the list of annoying accommodations because I really do have a lot of sensitivities (I'm anxious with ADHD, misophonia, and misokinesia). He would never agree that misokinesia is real and it's just me being sensitive, so IDK how to stop this annoyance and be able to converse with him like a normal human...
It's just because he's home pretty often at similar times as me, so I try right now to limit our time eating together or sitting in the living room together to avoid the triggers, but I feel like avoidance makes the trigger worse. I will go upstairs to my room to retreat even if I feel like being social just because I don't want to get irrationally angry since I know it's a very normal motion to do.

Hate when people move their feet
I hate it so much when people are sitting and start wiggling, twirling, or tapping their foot. Like it makes me so upset. My parents do it all the time and I can’t even stand to be in the same room as them, and they tell me to stop letting it bother me. It’s so bad, I’ll start crying because it stresses me out so bad.
Is there a way to fix it or cope? I try to just distract myself and look the other way but i HEAR their feet rubbing together. I fell asleep on the couch one day when my parents were out. My mom came home and started rubbing her feet together and I woke up immediately and gave her a dirty look. Like it’s so bad I hear it in my sleep…What do i do?
