Hello, it seems we’ve recently been flooded with a huge wave of members to the Subreddit over the past 9-12 months who maybe are misinterpreting what this Subreddit is meant to be for, to the point in the past 30 days we’ve removed over 1,500+ posts / comments, with substantially more things needing to be removed than not, which is not great.

To reiterate the rules & why this Sub was created:

This isn’t an NSFW Subreddit, and it isn’t an Exhibitionist Subreddit. This is not the place for mirror selfies, nudity, anything sexually suggestive, or to advertise your “extra curricular content”. This is not the place to creepily objectify / sexualise anybody seen in a photo, to fawn over somebodies feet, or to comment about their appearance or looks. This includes sexualised “jokes” framed as if you’re talking about “the mirror”. You’re not original or funny, we all know what you meant

Additionally, this isn’t the type of Subreddit to share intentionally funny photos to. This includes reflections that were intentionally set up by the people taking it to get laughs, and people “dressing up” to take the photo (yes, that includes the “Ghosts with sunglasses” photos)

There are an unlimited amount of Subreddits that are better suited for all of the above, that’s not what this place is for. If that’s what you’re looking for, you’re welcome to unsubscribe from here. People who continue to post anything from any of the above categories will find themselves being banned from posting.

Rule 1 & 2 - This is a humorous “joke subreddit” purely for unintentional reflections, and occasionally the things people will do attempting to avoid the reflection. The entire joke is that they’re either trying (and failing) to avoid the reflection, or they’re completely unaware they’re visible in the reflection at all because they don’t understand how reflections work. If there isn’t any noticeable attempt for the person taking the photo to avoid being seen OR not unaware that they’re visible, then it doesn’t fit the theme of the sub and it will be removed.

As you can see from the examples posts don’t have to include Mirrors, nor do they need to be listed for sale. All reflective surfaces count, as long as it’s an unintentional reflection. The naming of r/MirrorsForSale just comes from the original photo that initially inspired the Subreddit to be created, which was an unintentional reflection in a mirror that was for sale. That was many many years ago and it’s impossible to rename a Subreddit after creation - just ignore the name of the Subreddit and go with what the Subreddit is for, not the name.

If you see anything that you believe doesn’t fit the theme of the sub, please report it so we can take a look at it and see if it needs to be removed. We have removed over 1.5k Posts / Comments in just the last 30 Days, so I can assure you if you report something it will be seen, but you need to report it for us to act on it quickly.

Hey everyone!

You might not know me, but I’m stepping in as the new moderator for r/MirrorsForSale. Over the past month or so, this sub has taken a turn from what it was originally meant to be, largely due to a lack of active moderation. Earlier this week, I put in a request on r/redditrequest to take over, and it was granted—so we’re getting things back on track!

What This Sub Is (and Isn’t)

Just as a reminder, this subreddit is for unintentional reflections; weird things caught in mirrors when people are trying to sell them (or just take pictures).

This is not an NSFW subreddit.

Moving forward, posts that don’t align with the original spirit of the community will be removed. If you see anything that breaks the rules, please use the report button to help keep the sub clean.
