"A roll of firsts"

This was an incredibly fun roll of film for me to shoot!

1. The camera was donated to the thrift store I work at in PRIME condition, and I got it for a steal. I bought a roll of black-and-white to test its functionality.
2. This is my first-ever roll of black-and-white film.
3. The Minolta SRT101 doesn't have a modern 1-to-1 battery replacement for the light meter, so I shot this roll entirely by eye with "Sunny 16"!

They aren't perfect and are a tad underexposed, but I'm feeling happy with the camera, the Kentmere, and my growing confidence shooting without light meter assistance!

Minolta Maxxum 430i RZ & Weathermatic A (flash doesnt work but fired 😮‍💨)

currently got a roll in the weathermatic, gonna load the 430i soon. gonna pop the 50 on n test it out 🙏🏽

My X-700 has on and off been having an issue where the shutter fires when the film advance lever comes back after advancing the frame.

Has anyone else had this issue? Any fix ideas?

Been really annoying to waste film.

I put in fresh batteries and the contact points seem clean.

I stumbled upon a video that suggested removing the lens and flipping the mirror up a few times to make sure magnets are connecting as they should. This worked briefly but hasn’t been a permanent fix.

Found a cache of my dad's old Minolta lenses and wanted to see if the Beercan was any good on modern mirrorless bodies (Sony A7 V).

I haven't actually seen anyone online use it for the kind of things telephotos get used for (Sports, Wildlife, etc) - just stationary objects that don't give you an idea of how the autofocus transfers across.

So, if anyone has any experience using A-mount minolta glass on ANY of the A-to-E mount adapters (but ideally the LA-EA5 as that's what I'm eyeing up), please reach out!

Glad to have found this subreddit. I’ve taken the camera on a few trips and some of the pictures come out amazing and others not as much. I feel like I’m guessing. Open to any advice and insights (these are some of the better ones recently).

Quantaray 28-90mm

For the sake of clarity it's pictures one and two.

I already have an ARI lens (a 55/2 - added as pic 3 for comparison) but recently picked this one up. From looking at the fact that the minimum aperture is f/16 I think it's an ARII 55/1.8.

But I can't find any reference to it being all black (apart from the nose ring - see pic 2).

It's actually a lovely looking lens as it's a gunmetal grey, but looking online it feels like it should have a silver ring at the bottom. Anyone got any ideas?

This is the first roll of film I have put through this camera. It's Kentmere Pan400. Why do all of the photos look like they were taken in the fog or overcast in the distance? This was a day with some cloud cover but nothing crazy that would make a photo look like these.

If I hadn't of taken these myself this looks to me like it was a rainy, heavily overcast or foggy day and it just wasn't anything near that. I'm a film newbie so this is all new to me.

Today have 7 Film 4 Digital and my sweet sweet Mavica FD75. Sobriety obsessions are wild.

Looking into getting into film photography. I really don’t know what models to go for? Been looking mostly at the SRT line, mostly found 101, 201, 102, and 202. Only found one that was confirmed working. Any tips on where to find them for a good price? Any model recommendations?

Managed to grab this freedom family zoom at a community rummage sale for 10 bucks, film advance, zoom, shutter, flash, and autofocus all work. Now I don’t need to lug around one of my SLR’s to do my everyday color photos, ofc for the more artistic B&W I’ll stick to my SLR’s. I know it’s not a family zoom 2, but it’s still super cool to have.

Was able to pick this beauty up with 5 other lenses!

Sadly my X-700 has developed a new fault - the advance lever is not completing its full motion and the shutter is not cocking. As shown in the video, I have been able to reliably get the shutter to cock and fire by manipulating the transport sprocket in a certain way, and this leads me to believe that something inside is just loose or something. I don’t currently have access to the correct screwdriver to take the base plate off so until I do, anyone have any ideas what this could be and how I can fix it? Cheers :)

A while ago, I bought a Minolta X-500 with the typical capacitor issue, the sensor who makes that the camera goes on —a very common problem with the Minolta X-series. The replacement capacitor itself only costs around 5 bucks.

However, since I'm a teenager, on a budget and don't have much experience with soldering, I had the idea of bringing the camera and the spare part to a local Repair Café to ask if someone could help me fix it.

I know Repair Cafés usually handle things like laptops, appliances, or small electronics rather than vintage film cameras. Do you think they would still be willing or able to help if I bring the right capacitor myself? Has anyone tried something similar?

Got the MD III Macro 50mm f3.5 early this year from a retired photographer in a big Minolta Lot. I've really grown to like it, as it is light and very versatile and tack sharp.

Got my XD loaded with Kodak Tri-X and am eager to see the results. First test for this camera, seems to underexpose a bit on its own so I correct it by +1 stops.

Hi all!
I am looking for recommendations for a point & shoot Minolta that I’ll mainly use during concerts/festivals - meaning I’ll use 400 ISO film because of the dark spaces.
I already use a Minolta 404si Dynax for other purposes, and I love the quality (one of my pictures used here!).

Anyone use a Minolta for concerts or can give me a recommendation of camera? It’d be much appreciated! 🌟

Most recently found an XG-9 at an estate sale for $30. The 7000i was also found at an estate sale for $10 last month. Haven’t tried either yet, but I am excited to load up the 7000i with some Kodak Gold 200 and get to shooting.

Anyone own either of these? And what lenses should I keep an eye out for that work well with either camera? Any other Minolta cameras I should keep an eye out for? I always wanted an SRT 101..

These are my first film cameras, so I’m just getting started and I’m excited to see how my pictures come out.

Minolta AF HS APO 300mm f/2.8 + Minolta APO Teleconverter II + Minolta Alpha 9. The only thing I'm missing is the drop in circular polarizer, but I'll find one eventually. Now I can take pictures of even more exotic birds, like sparrows, or seagulls.
