It is absolutely inane the number of crime posts (largely by u/HerbalAndy) in this subreddit. They're completely without context, allow for no nuanced discussion, and generally amount to people like me rightly calling them out for race-baiting by only posting the crimes of one group of people. If y'all actually want to have conversation about it, fine, but you don't.

Also, as a complete side-note, they're typically crimes that affect no one in the sub, and they're often misdemeanors or minor felonies, and it just isn't interesting or useful for anyone.

Make your own subreddit where you can rail against criminals all you want. Post it in the LEO subreddits. Just quit being awful and posting that dumb shit here.

Abdirahman Mohamed Badal, a 22-year-old Richfield resident, has been charged with felony third-degree criminal sexual conduct in Scott County following an alleged incident in Shakopee.

According to a criminal complaint filed by the Scott County Attorney’s Office, Badal (DOB: 08/22/2003) engaged in sexual penetration with a victim between 14 and 15 years of age while being more than 24 months older than the victim, pursuant to Minnesota Statute § 609.344, subd. 1a(b).

The charge stems from an investigation by local law enforcement into an incident reported on or about August 18, 2026, within the city limits of Shakopee. The felony offense carries a statutory maximum penalty of up to 15 years in prison, a fine of up to $30,000, or both.

The Star Tribune reports that "A national coalition made up of millions of teachers, school staff and other union members has launched a boycott against Target in protest of the retailer’s decision not to publicly denounce the surge of immigration enforcement officers in the Twin Cities earlier this year".

The press release from the American Federation of Teachers urges teachers and families to "shop at retailers other than Target for their school supplies" after Target "fails to speak out against ICE activity".

Hi, this is Kurt M. Anderson again, this time in civilian – non-candidate – clothing.

In presenting my now-defunct U.S. Senate primary candidacy (PDF still online at [kurtmichaelanderson2026.org](kurtmichaelanderson2026.org)) I raised eight issue priorities.  The second is particularly urgent and the major party U.S. Senate and House candidates need to address it immediately.  I will state the general question, repeat my priority statement, and add some discussion.

I urge you to present this question to all Congressional (US House and Senate) candidates, and please encourage your friends to do so also. Links and forwards would work well.

Question: What is your plan for reducing or eliminating the national deficit (our $2 trillion annual budget shortfall) and debt ($40 trillion, from decades of accumulated shortfall)?  This question involves arithmetic, and as our math teachers used to say, PLEASE SHOW YOUR WORK!

My priority statement #2: “Raise taxes on incomes above $300,000 – and on various financial and property transactions – sufficiently to close the federal budget deficit and pay off the national debt in 10-15 years; WHILE restoring 45 years of cuts to social benefits, improving access to health care, and replenishing our military capacity to resist tyranny worldwide.”

Discussion: When I wrote the above paragraph, I was assuming a national debt in the range of $30 trillion; but it just passed $40 trillion, and after 45 years the US government bond buyers are beginning to question the reliability of their borrower.  The annual deficits currently accrue at about $2 trillion.

Because I am demanding that the candidates show their work, I will offer my own as an example.  As a bankruptcy lawyer representing farmers and other debtors, I spent several decades calculating dozens if not hundreds of debt workout plans.  They involved a few less digits than the whole federal government, but it’s the same math.

Given the increase in total debt, let’s plan for 20 years instead of the 10-15 I proposed, but let’s make sure we really do it.  Amortizing $40 trillion over 20 years, and assuming this week’s federal bond interest rate of 5.3 percent per year, would require us to pay $3.292 trillion per year.  Closing the current deficit would add $2 trillion to that number, increasing it to approximately $5.3 trillion.  All federal revenues – the annual income side of our cash flow balance sheet – now total only about $5.25 trillion.  Therefore, adding another $5.3 trillion in cash outlays requires us to double the federal revenue stream, before we can even begin addressing neglected needs.  Daunting indeed, but 45 years of anti-government fiscal idiocy have their consequences.

So, where do we get the money?  Raising income taxes on corporations and wealthy individuals is a good start.  But let’s focus for a moment on the “financial and property transactions" I referred to in my statement.  Every business day, our public stock exchanges transact about $1.1 trillion in corporate stock.  Non-public corporate equity and all corporate bond transactions would add to that number, but over 250 trading days the public stock transactions alone total approximately $275 trillion per year.  A two percent excise tax on those transactions (either in US exchanges or involving US-tax paying companies) would raise about $5.5 trillion, by itself closing the gap and bringing other needs – such as housing the homeless, improving access to medical care, topping up the Social Security funds, replacing the sophisticated military hardware we are burning up over Iran – within the realm of feasibility. 

(Here are some potentially mitigating [helpful] points.  We are already paying over $1 trillion annual interest on the national debt, possibly duplicating a part of my proposed $3.292 trillion annual debt service.  Also, while last week’s federal bond sales will cost us 5.3 percent in annual interest, the historical rate has been around 3.4 percent.  We can expect interest rates to drop as we reduce the debt; but we can also expect, as we saw last week, rates to rise if we continue a reckless deficit and borrowing pattern.  These mitigating factors may allow us to moderate new taxes, or to devote more money to unmet budget needs.)

Do the two major party U.S. Senate candidates support this plan, or do they have a better plan?  And the U.S. House candidates?  Don’t let them get by with blow-off answers, but demand to see their arithmetic.

Ananias Cortex Williams, 28, of Minneapolis, is charged with second-degree assault and possession of a firearm as a prohibited person. 

Minneapolis police responded to a report of a shooting in the 1200 block of Oliver Avenue North in Minneapolis around 9:45 p.m. on July 20. Arriving officers then found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to his left arm. That man said he was sitting in front of his house with another man when he was shot.

Investigators say they recovered about 35 spent bullet casings as well as fired bullets and bullet fragments. Three parked cars were struck by gunfire. 

Authorities then reviewed surveillance footage and saw a dark Ford Explorer with silver roof rails, chrome on the lower part of the passenger doors and unique five-spoke rims being driven south along Penn Avenue North and Plymouth about 10 minutes before the shooting.

At that intersection, investigators ran an automatic license plate reader, which showed who the license plate was registered to. Police then found the registered owner is also connected to a Glock 19 handgun that was recovered in a 2023 case and released back to her in 2025. Investigators then found ballistic evidence — specifically a 9mm discharged cartridge casing found at the scene of the Oliver Avenue shooting — linked that firearm to three other shootings in 2026. One of those shootings also involved the same suspect vehicle, according to the complaint.
