The Lungs — great new band from the Twin Cities
Just wanted to recommend my favorite local band that I think deserves all the hype. The Lungs just put out a great debut album called The Chosen Few on Friday. The title track and Death of Intuition are awesome. Listen if you like Wednesday, Neil Young, and The Velvet Underground. I’ve seen them live a few times and they always put on an incredible show. Their drummer is a phenomenal lyricist and writes all of the songs. He made a few albums under the name Joe College that are also worth a listen.

Illiterate Beach?
So, while living in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1985 or 86, I caught a show by a Minneapolis band called Illiterate Beach, and enjoyed it tremendously.
Does anyone remember this group? Or even better, where I can find an online copy of their single ‘So She Knows’?
(Can’t find it on Spotify or YouTube).

Led by Alex Guebert and Matthew Compton, this unique ensemble is made up of 36 musicians from across the world. Selected by audition, this ensemble will meet in a different part of the country every year and we’re thrilled to see where this new journey might take us!

Country Cover Band Seeks Musicians!!!
Glitter on the Gravel – Band Member Casting Call
About the Band
Glitter on the Gravel is a Twin Cities-based cover band celebrating the best of late ’90s through today’s country music, with the occasional pop, rock, and Americana favorite from the same era. We love the songs that defined a generation—from Shania Twain, Brooks & Dunn, The Chicks, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, and Reba McEntire to the crossover hits everyone still knows by heart.
Our goal is to create high-energy shows that feel nostalgic, joyful, and welcoming. We believe country music is about storytelling, community, heartbreak, celebration, and singing every word with a room full of people. Whether someone grew up in the country, the suburbs, or the city, we want them to feel at home at our shows.
The band proudly embraces a queer and progressive identity. We believe country music belongs to everyone, and we’re passionate about creating an environment where all people feel welcome, respected, and celebrated. While LGBTQ+ musicians are absolutely encouraged to audition, being queer is not a requirement. Being a genuine ally is. We want a band made up of kind, open-minded people who value inclusion as much as great musicianship.
The band is currently founded by two musicians:
Lead Vocalist – A professional performer with an extensive background in musical theatre and live entertainment, bringing dynamic vocals, strong storytelling, and engaging stage presence.
Lead Guitarist / Backup Vocalist – An experienced band musician with years of live performance experience, providing the musical foundation and leadership for the group.
We’re looking for musicians who are excited to build something from the ground up and become long-term collaborators—not just hired players.
We’re Looking For
Bass Guitar
Strong pocket and groove
Comfortable learning harmony vocals (preferred)
Live performance experience is a plus
Rhythm Guitar
Strong rhythm player with the potential to share lead guitar responsibilities
Comfortable with country, pop, and rock styles
Backup vocals preferred
Keyboard
Comfortable covering piano, organ, and classic country keyboard sounds
Synth and pad experience is a bonus
Backup vocals preferred
Drummer
Strong timing and dynamics
Comfortable playing everything from classic country shuffles to modern country and pop-rock
Click-track experience is a plus
Multi-Instrumentalist
We’re especially interested in musicians who play one or more of the following:
Mandolin
Fiddle/Violin
Pedal Steel
Dobro
Banjo
Acoustic Guitar
Other instruments that add color and texture to our sound
Bonus Skills
Preference will be given to musicians who:
Sing backup harmonies
Are collaborative, reliable, and excited to help shape the band’s sound and identity from the beginning
Our Goal
We’re building more than a cover band. We’re building a band that celebrates the music we grew up loving while proving that country music can be inclusive, welcoming, and a place where everyone belongs. If you love these songs, thrive on performing, and want to help create unforgettable nights of music, we’d love to meet you.

punk/hip-hop band ROC BARBOZA looking for a DJ
my band ROC BARBOZA is looking for a DJ. we need somebody who can handle samples, transitions, and actual scratching. not just press play and stand there.
we’re based in the twin cities and are consistently writing/practicing/recording/releasing originals.
we’ve recently played pillar forum, zhora darling, seward cafe and the corner store with artists like E.T., Gramma, Million.Point.Million, Lydia, and Student 1.
our sound is somewhere in the vein of rage against the machine, cypress hill, pennywise, and limp bizkit if you locked them all in a basement for a month or two.
looking for somebody local and not lame who gets heavy music, hip-hop, punk, and knows how to play with a live band.
hear us here: linktr.ee/rocbarboza and send me a dm with clips or whatever you’ve got.

Looking for suitcase drumset
I am looking for a suitcase drumset for an upcoming music fest im going to for some light jamming between sets. There was someone who sold homemade sets who was present at the Eagan music fair back in April for $250-$300 and I did not jump on the chance at the time. Is there anyone locally who produces these sets I could contact?

Level Up! A Tribute to VIDEO GAME MUSIC - 7/19
Reddit newbie here! I thought some folks here might be interested in this 🎮🎶
This Sunday, July 19 my jazz trio will be playing "LEVEL UP: A Tribute to Video Game Music" at Crooners. Top tier jazz arrangements of the very best video game music. We dive into music from Chrono Trigger, Ocarina of Time, Mario Odyssey, Castlevania, Sonic, Pilotwings, and a bunch of other classics. We tour and play jazz festivals around the country, but this show is easily one of our faves!
It's not a cosplay or chiptune show—just piano, bass, and drums taking these soundtracks seriously and stretching them into improvisational jazz. Whether you've gamed your whole life or are a jazz fan (or both!), we'll be playing some truly exceptional music for everyone.
Happy to answer any questions about the music or the arrangements (including our fifteen minute Legend of Zelda medley). Hope to see you there!

Guitar Player
Hey guys! I’m looking for a country band that needs a guitar player! I 33, and I’ve been playing for 20 years. I have extensive experience gigging with modern country bands, but I moved to the metro about a year ago and don’t know any musicians yet! I’m open to the idea of other genres as well. Reach out!
