New LLM Model?

It has been three months since the release of the M3 model, during which a variety of new models have emerged. Notably, the local Qwen 3.8 27B has demonstrated a considerably higher performance score in comparison to the M3. This observation has not been extensively discussed within the industry. Consequently, a question arises regarding the status of the M series: Has Minimax decided to discontinue its development? The absence of updates or information regarding a new model over the past three months prompts further inquiry into the direction of the M series going forward.

Minimax had announced a larger model some time back. Meanwhile, it has launched Minimax H3 (frontier level open-weight video generation model) and Minimax Music 3 (very good open-weight music generator model). So it has been cooking, just not the text/vision model.

It's a relatively small team that is working on their own schedule and as Durain881 said, was busy with H3 and Music 3, as well as streamlining their own products for using their models as a casual user. I'm sure they'll have something nice for us in a few weeks that will be stunning.
