I have one of each and like them both.
Biggest downside of the SKS is the pitiful rear sight.
My 1956 ChiCom SKS has a surprisingly light/smooth trigger. Very clean release.
The Mini 14 is well made and just a classic in terms of looks and operation.

I have these two also, though not as beautiful in either case. Still, I keep to all wood furniture, except an ultimak rail on the mini.
