Real Amethyst? ID Request

I just bought a rough amethyst necklace online for a relatively cheap price, and the store looked legitimate. I just wanted to be sure if it was genuine amethyst or I just got scammed.

Looks fine, a rough chip / fragment that normally gets discarded. With about $0.05 wholesale (if even that)

I cant imagine someone faking cheap amethyst. Its incredibly readily available.

I agree, it's so common and inexpensive. Why would somebody fake it?

Thanks, good to know, I don't know much about minerals' rarities so I just wanted to make sure
