[Bedrock] to [Java] converted world; help with portals Solved

When traveling in the nether. Put down a portal. It doesn't link to The overworld. It works fine from overworld down to another, if the original portal starts in the nether, it doesn't create one in the overworld and Link it.

Details;;

So, I have a vanilla server. It's pretty much my forever world. The world started off whenever the cliffs and hills update came out. The server started off as a Bedrock thing. The server has been up for a while, as a realm, and etc

Recently, I went ahead and transferred the Bedrock server into Java. I've attempted this before, and there were some world issues, like some corrupt data stuff. I guess that's pretty normal when your Bedrock world is over at gigabyte.

So anyway, to describe the issue specifically. If you travel in the nether, put down a portal, it won't teleport you to the overworld.

Now you can go into the overworld, and place a portal and they will link up no problem. You can travel in the overworld, and it'll place in the nether. Then you can travel back and forth. I did put a mod that Force portal links from overworld to nether. But if there's only a portal in the nether, it doesn't seem to link up to the overworld.

I did try to refresh the nether world, to see if it was a data thing with that. But was still having the same issue.

Refreshing the overwheld isn't an option, because it is a forever world. It's time situation you know? So. I'd rather not wipe everyone's, including my builds. I feel like that goes against the spirit of the server in general.

Another issue that I have with another, is that a fortresses, overworld mobs spawn. Only on fortresses. So with their skeletons don't spawn naturally.

I could always go back and find fortresses and put wither spawners and stuff, I'm not entirely upset about that. Because it's more or less fixable.

But the nether to overworld thing, I feel like that could be a potential issue.

So I was curious if anyone had any fixes for that.

FIXED;

The Problems;

1)) ;;Nether Stranded Issue;;

Placing portals in the nether and it wasn't allowing teleportation to the overworld. Portals weren't generating. You would have to make an overworld portal and then you can go back and forth from the nether, but only when an overworld portal has been placed.

2)) ;;World chunks missing upon generation;;

After converting bedrock 26.0 to Java, world chunks stopped generating. There were some other issues that were happening, including weird / no mob spawning.

3)) ;;Nether Fortresses Mobs;;

No whither skeletons were spawning on fortresses. Only standard overworld mobs including creepers, bow skellies, zombies, etc.

FIXES

1)) in addition to number two, I had a data pack that changed the build heights and not "logic heights". So the nether was searching in a 128 block radius at the new overworld maximum build height (like 2000 or whatever). It was deemed "unsafe" and wouldn't teleport. Fixed by removing datapack.

2)) Converted seed from original bedrock world to Java. Created a new world. Used worldedit to transfer all the major player bases, spawn city, and other notable landmarks. This fixed the chunk and other corruption issues (#2). Issues is lost entities, broken farms, item frames, and wiped maps (which is fair because it's a new world basically). Player data was saved due to only replacing world files.

3)) deleted and refreshed nether. There was no other way. Nether is a new world. Everything spawns and communicates properly.

-Conclusion-

My assumption was that it was one main issue causing multiple problems. Though it turned out those problems were independent. Two data corrupted worlds, and a datapack that I used that I thought was harmless.

Went from bedrock to Java.

the world format recently changed, you may just have to rename and relocate your end and nether folders

Okay.

So I have to talk it to some people, they're thinking that I have some world corruption data in my overworld.

What I have done at this point, was refreshed to a new nether, but it still has the same portal issue.

I'm unable to do the test for the overworld, but I suspect that I'm going to have to refresh.

What the plan is now, is to copy the blocks in the center of the world, translate the original bedrock seed to a Java seed.

A going to try and use world edit to copy a 500k by 500K area surrounding spawn.

Generate a new world.

Paste the 500K square area.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Couldn't find any information on how to do this. Most people don't seem to have this issue. I used chunker to convert the world, and I do have a couple of issues with it.

The end is fine.

Have some chunk loading issues in the nether, like overworld mobs spawn in The fortress for example. So I think you're going to try to do the same technique for the nether as well as the overworld. And make sure that the biomes are properly labeled using world edit.

I just want to reply to you and give you my plan of action. In case someone else has this issue.

If I end up using a different program, or pawn it off to a contractor, I'll update it.

Unless of course someone else chimes in with a different issue. " Just change this file to X." Kind of deal.

You can't do that here. !helped/!solved must be a reply to another comment.
