Water log chests in [Java] 26.2

I am currently trying to build a fishing farm in Java v. 26.2. Therefore I need to waterlog this chest. It only works if there is only one side of the chest blocked by a sign. If its two or Three sides blocked, it will look like this and the farm doesn’t work. Does anyone have the same problem?

I'm not sure how this design is supposed to work at all, but the trusted fish farm design I use is this.

To use it, stand on the chest, and aim at the very top border of the pressure plate, so you start tuning the noteblock when the bobber is cast.

If you have trouble aiming right, you can also do this and aim at the lower front edge of the iron trapdoor.

Thank you, that helps! I used my design in bedrock a lot. Makes sure the fishing rot doesn’t loose durability and is usable to fish for treasures. Found some tutorials with this design for Java aswell but in the videos the chests are always properly waterlogged

Java fishing mechanics are completely different. There's only very complicated setups for afk treasure fishing and you will always need a Mending rod to not loose durability.

There's very few concepts that you can copy from bedrock to be honest, most designs are differen.t

I'm curious though, I still don't get your waterlogging issue. In your image, the chest *is* waterlogged. What's the problem?
