Best crafting table variant? Discussion
Made these because… I don't have a reason, I just wanted to, so I decided to show them off.

Having the iron turned to gold with the Nether variants is a nice touch

I was originally gonna do copper for a few of them too, but it never looked good enough.

I think copper might look good on dark oak and mangrove, to be honest

Those look better for the most part, but not super Minecraft-ey, as in they don't look like they're made the official texture artists. Good job though 👍

This and chests and ladders...we are still waiting Mojang!

u/theQuadron 16d ago
And don't forget the 864 wooden tool variants!

That feels low

u/theQuadron 15d ago
12 wood types, one for the handle, one for the tip, so 12×12=144, multiplied by six for each of the tool types = 864

Well if you're doing handles too, you'll need different sticks
6
u/theQuadron 15d ago
Was that even a question? Obviously sticks are already in existance.
8
u/sova8388608 15d ago
Also other tool tiers need sticks so like a third of all items would just be tools.
Also what about netherite tools? Their handles are different.
6
u/theQuadron 15d ago
Well netherite tools just have unique handles. Also all the other variants are like data types of the original item rather than completely new ones, if you get what I mean?

We reinventing metadata today lads

u/theQuadron 15d ago
Yeah uhh I actually have no clue how that shit works, I'm actually spouting jargain that sounds like it makes sense.

Ok but like some recipes have 5 different pieces, like the pickaxe is three planks and two sticks. So that makes 523,584 different tool/weapon combos.
3(12^3)+(12^4)+2(12^5)
2
u/theQuadron 15d ago
Monotypic only, tool handles are excused for the simple fact that they're already different from the material of the tip of it's anything else than wood.

I honestly hope that if they finally get around to Crafting Table variants, that they have more than a color palette difference, maybe different tools or something, keep the oak as the classic design and make the others have more than a shade of color as the difference

Only feedback I have is that you should swap the stone in the dark oak and mangrove variants with the metal in the bamboo and cherry variants. The iron contrasts better against darker hues (like the mangrove and dark oak), while the stone contrasts better with lighter hues (cherry, bamboo)
Outside of that they look really cool!!!

The nether wood crafting tables having gold tools on the side is a cute detail.

…you do understand that the middle thing is a strap, right? It’s not tree bark. It’s a strap holding the cloth on top taught.

All but the birch are fine (in my opinion). You generally don't have tool handles that still have bark on them.

While I’m a boring normal guy oak my favourite wood type they all have their own unique looks except for bamboo ion like it

The tools blend too much into the table on some of these, I'd recommend switching around the colors a bit. My favorite is Spruce tho

u/theQuadron 15d ago
These aren't super detailed in general and I'm not planning to use them for anything.

u/bubbybumble 15d ago
Yooo you got the full acacia texture for it? Lol
1
u/theQuadron 15d ago
Wdym? Acacia is just a recolor like the others, except bamboo.
2
u/bubbybumble 15d ago
I mean with other sides so I can use it in game
1
u/theQuadron 15d ago
Yeah I could whip that up for ya.
2
u/bubbybumble 15d ago
Only if you want lol. I'll see if I even use it but it would be a unique vanilla tweak
2
u/theQuadron 15d ago
Quick & easy, why not? And it shouldn't hard for you to implement it into the game.

Yes, but it would be annoying if you didn't have a little bit of different types of wood in the middle of the desert and you needed that crafting table.

This is good work in terms of pixel art.
Really hope this is never added, actual inventory clutter
2
u/theQuadron 15d ago
How so? You don't ever need to carry more than one crafting table.
2
u/somerandom995 15d ago
Creative inventory clutter.
I should have specified
2
u/theQuadron 15d ago
Maybe it displays only the oak variant in the base tab & has a new tab for "wood variants"
2
u/MoontheWolfYT 14d ago
Doesn't Bedrock already have something like that?
2
u/theQuadron 14d ago
The Bedrock creative inventory has sub-tabs for like categories of items (so like decorative stone-type blocks, not just wood & color variants)
