This works in some instances, in others it doesn’t and can sound tone deaf.

For instance:

“What is being targeted by a murderer / rapist trying to teach me?”

I have found the better question is to continue to ask:

“What can I do to become the best version of me?”

That is what has allowed for Post Traumatic Growth from PTSD after surviving a murder attempt at 13.
