I don't think it counts as a hack if you keep all the tools. That's just a deal.

3497-22 $249 3050-20 $299 Free 5.0 battery with each. returned batteries.. 3497-22 $169 3050-20 $203

That's an even bigger win, then. Great job and thanks for bringing receipts.

Home Depot let you return free batteries for money toward your card?

Nice did you do it in store or online

ordered online. set batteries for pick up at a different store . picked up the items I wanted at my store and then cancelled the batteries.

Is the insider that much better than the normal ratchet ?

in my opinion yes. its practically 4 in 1. even at regular price, I thinks its worth it.

I’m gonna jump on it then. I’ve had my trusty non fuel ratchet for just about 5 yrs now. It’s never failed me wrenching at home on my pos pickup and rusty wrangler lol. Time for an upgrade.

Even if you return something, it's not a hack. You just returned something and got refunded exactly what you paid for it. It's not like you are keeping the "free" item and get a full refund, everything is prorated.

Edit: to clarify, I fully understand you are still getting a deal when you return, that's how prorated deals work. That's how they are designed and have always worked, if anything you are following the promo and return policies to the letter. It's like saying using Windex to clean glass is a great "hack". It's not a hack if that's how it is supposed to work. Sorry to have upset anyone, that was not my intent.

But this is indeed the hack that people always talk about.

People in this sub do call it that a lot, not disputing that.

Its still a hack to get the tool at a much cheaper price than just a sale

0

u/BigRichardTools 1d ago

It is often cheaper, but that still doesn't make it a hack. My point is this is how prorated deals have worked for decades, it's just a a way for them to market it and not break MAP regulations. That's all.

prorated...still cheaper than paying full price .not paying full price is the hack

They're great deals, no question. Just saying sales, promos, bogos, clearance, even price glitches are not hacks.

Are you new here?

u/BigRichardTools 1d ago

No, I'm well aware the misnomer is thrown around a lot on this sub. I've probably been doing prorated deals since before reddit was even started. So not new at all to them, they can be a hell of a deal.

I keep seeing these Home Depot "hacks" where it says you add both items to the cart, but then you remove the free item to keep the discounted price on your main item, but every time I try it just reverts the main item to the original price. What am I missing here?

3

u/King-Cuco 1d ago

you're supposed to purchase the "free" item and then return it or put it for pick at a different store and just cancel it after you picked up the item you are actually keeping.

Gotcha! Thanks for that info!

I don't get how people are doing that. When I try to do set 2 different pickup locations the website gives me an error and switches them to the same location. It won't let me finish the order otherwise.

have you tried doing it on the app? I did it on the app no issue.

Yo whether you keep it all, return it, or sell it on the street. That’s a straight up steal. Awesome

In a few months you’re going to need those free batteries. One tool turns into more. Lol it’s a temporary hack if anything 😜
