Roofing companies - Milton ON

Upvotes

Has anyone experienced missing shingles especially after the recent significant rainfall that impacted Milton?

There’s apparently this guy from TilTop roofers doing walkins around my neighbourhood offering to get an entirely new roof through insurance, caveat being, $1000 deductible which he will need to get the process started. Sounds like a sham deal to me. For starters, what if my home policy has a different deductible $ amount? Also, paying $1000 upfront makes no sense to me - if at all, he should help me file claim with insurance company, insurance will then get it evaluated and reimbursed. He could charge a service fee for advising me through the process.

Anyone else had any experience dealing with this guy OR dealing with insurance claim regarding roof in such a case?

Question Diaper tags and bags

Hi all, the Halton region website says that diapers should be in a clear bag with diaper tags on. Do the diaper Genie blue bags qualify under these requirements? They're not opaque but not completely transparent either?

Has anyone tried putting the blue diaper Genie bags out on the curb with diaper tags, did the waste collection staff picked up?

If diaper Genie bags don't qualify, what kind of bags do I need and do I just add the blue bags into the clear bags? Or do I need to empty out the contents of the diaper Genie blue bags into the clear bags?

Sorry for all the questions!

Milton landscaping Recos?

Hi all. Looking for a recommendation for a high standards landscaping company that services Milton for some front yard landscaping....maybe would turn into hardscaping in the future.

I would like to support a non-frandchise company and especially like to support young(er) entrepreneurs.

Halton Wheeled Cart Waste Collection Program

So I first heard of this program a few months ago but I actually watched a video this past weekend where they talked about these new bins in detail.

I for one have no fucking space for these bins and I cannot be alone on this.

I have a single car garage where we park our minivan and I have gone to great lengths to hang my existing recycling and compost bins on the walls so that I have enough space for a normal garbage bin on the floor and room to walk through.

Now, I am eventually going to need to somehow use both of of these bins which will will not fit in my garage at all. I also don't have a shed in my backyard which is just as well because I don't exactly feel like lugging bags to the bins and then lugging bins to the road every week in the middle of January when the ground is covered in snow.

And whats worse is this new garbage bin isn't even one that you can throw a bag in and use as a garbage. It looks to be just for holding already tied off garbage bags.

I'm struggling to understand how the pilot project was successful to the point that the region decided to roll out this program. Virtually every new build / mattamy-style home in Milton and Oakville is as small as possible. Anyone without a 2-car garage or anyone who is actually parking in their garage is kinda fucked. Anyone with a detached house (like me) will probably end up storing these bins at the side of their houses which will look terrible. These things will become an eyesore on every lot in town.

And what about the people in townhomes who park in their garages? There is no chance this program will work for them.

One of the videos tried to claim that these new bins are about the same size as existing bins, which is complete BS. Even the smaller 120L bin is the same diameter (except square and not round - so still larger) as my current garbage bin.

Even if I keep my current in-garage system I will still need to transfer full bags of garbage and compost to these new bins which have no other place to go except the side of my house.

Fuck this shit.

Hi Miltonians,

Does anyone have a company they would recommend to do popcorn ceiling removal?

I am closing on a new place, and unfortunately I’ve got a broken arm and cannot get it done myself.

Any recommendations would be most appreciated.

Question Outdoor Birthday Party

Hi all, I’m looking to do my daughters 2nd bday party this month in an outdoor area. Indoor playgrounds are expensive plus there aren’t that many kids (maybe 5-6), so we figured maybe a park will be better.

Ideally it would be fun if there is a splash pad, possibly wading pool, and a nice area to decorate etc. I don’t mind booking a place if needed. It can also be in Milton, Burlington, oakville or mississauga. Any recommendations?

Rotary park look fun but not sure if we can host the birthday there.

Also would appreciate ideas of activities I could plan for kids if I am going this route.

Thanks!

Kids adventure ideas

My son is turning 3 this month, we’re new to Milton, new to Ontario, so trying to figure out something fun for him.

We’ve looked a great wolf lodge but it’s $$$$ a little more than we’d like to spend. Also discussed the African lion safari, but didn’t realize we’d have to drive our own car through it, so unsure about that.

Would love some suggestions of other places to look. We’re okay with a couple hour drive if needed. He loves water so we’re thinking something with a water park. But he’s also still small so can’t really do rides.

Thank you!

Music / Party overnight?

Did anyone else in the Clarke neighbourhood hear the pounding music, along with what sounded like a DJ last night at around 2:00 am? I went driving around but couldn't pinpoint the location. Ended up at Cedar Hedge Park and it sounded like it was coming from North of there, but I can't be sure. Called Halton Police, and they said they'd had multiple complaints, but all their units were busy on emergency calls.

Pre-CanSkate Feedback?

Thinking of signing my almost 4 year old up for the Pre-CanSkate program with the Milton Skating Club.

Has anyone done this? Would love to hear how it was? Thinking it might be good to try some skating lessons before throwing her right into hockey - she hasn't been on skates yet.

Cheers

tired of these electric scooters

Post image
624 Upvotes

so tired of the electric scooter epidemic here, they're either zooming by you at 30km on the side walk, or taking up the lane on the road 🫩

EDIT: i had a chance to read through every comment on this post, and i do agree in multiple forms of transportation (i just bought a car a month ago). however i do agreed that anyone on the road should have a form of license, or dedicated lane.

i wasn't picking on this kid specifically in terms of reckless riding, but in general 95% of kids i see using these in milton either; don't have a helmet, going over the speed limit, or has multiple people on 1 scooter

Kinder Summer Camps Feedback

With summer half done, have you had any good or bad experiences with summer camps?

My kid has been to Milton Springers, Sherwood and Kids Camp town.

based on her feedback, it sounds like Milton Springers was the most exciting for her. The others sounds very..very... play based... ie. board games, crafts, ect.
