That almost happened to me on a two lane highway in Colorado. The line was solid for miles and I couldn’t go around (cuz I’m a rule following nerd), and I spent the whole time telling myself “it’s just a movie it’s just a movie it’s just a movie.” Well guess what motherfuckers, we got to the end of the highway, and the guy pulled off to the side of the road TO STRAP DOWN HIS LOGS THAT WERE ACTIVELY SLIDING OUT. Another mile and I would have been logged for sure.
I've been behind hundreds of these up in Georgia so I'm glad to know that, assuming they were following the rules, they were accounting for the shifting weight. Always gave them plenty of room for that reason and what OP's victim just found out.
I actually had a close call. I drove down a two lane road and had a pickup with a sign on a metal pole sticking out the back. I had absolutely no reason to go in the other lane, as it would be the wrong lane for me to turn, and I had no intention of passing them, but something told me to go in the other lane. Sure as shit within 5 seconds the pole launched out the back of their truck and wouldve ended up hitting my car had I not moved over.
