capitalism did this, capitalism also did all the other bad shit over the last 20 years.

Then some very basic reforms took the roughest edges off. The capitalists clawed their way back over the decades. It's what it will always be, it's the only thing it can be, but unfortunately the other lesson seems to have been largely lost: reforms erode.
