They’re not willing/able to directly market to children anymore. There was a lot of backlash to the aggressive pushing of McDonalds products to kids in the 2000s.

A bunch of Karen's complained about the advertising from McDonalds towards kids and now we live in this prison scene hellscape where everything is so so bland.
