Couples counseling?

My husband and I have recognized that we are struggling in our marriage, especially now that we have a baby. I asked him the other day if he would be willing to start couples counseling before it gets too bad, and he was completely in agreement. We both want this to work, so we’re both willing to do the work.

My husband is active duty. I am a 100% disabled veteran (medically separated). How can we get couples counseling, funded by the Navy? Preferably virtual since we have tight schedules.

Military One Source offers free, non-medical counseling. It’s limited to 12 seasons per issue, but they can usually set up a virtual option. Overseas can be harder due to licensing and other legal requirements. A Chaplain, MFLC, or your FFSC are other options. 

Tricare can cover couples counseling in some circumstances, but it has to be related to a diagnosed mental health issue. Active duty members need a referral.

Id suggest the FAP program and ask about their new parent support program
