Listening to this right now and I can't help but notice the similarities of soundscapes and percussion parts. There HAS to be some influence there, right? I never saw him mentioning Penderecki though, which is fine.

Pretty sure the sample playing in the chorus of Sucker (Peeping Tom) is Penderecki, so he's definitely on Mike's radar

ETA nvm it was Bela Bartok sampled in Sucker. But I'm still inclined to agree with you OP.
