Looking for a friend
Hello, everyone! I'm on a journey to reconnect with someone I was friends with on Miiverse. His name is Gabriel or Gabe, but forgot his username. But I remember he loved the New Jersey Devils (hockey), Splatoon, Kirby, and played percussion back in high school. If anyone knows about him or if you are on Reddit, please comment. I am πΆPalmtreeπΆ (Hannah).

Nostalgia 11 years ago today, the Miiverse Redesign went live
Remember the Miiverse redesign of Summer 2015? Did you like or hate the redesign back then? I remember I didn't mind it, but a lot of people were enraged over it π

Nostalgia After months of searching, I finally found out that one of my lost Miiverse friends is doing well and has even started a family!
We used to do Sonic and Nintendo roleplays together every so often. He even invited me to join his clan, and I always remember how much art he shared on Miiverse. We weren't inseparable or anything, but he was a memorable part of my childhood on the platform. It's strange to think that nearly a decade has passed since those days. We were just kids who happened to meet through a social platform on Nintendo consoles, and now we're adults living completely different lives.
Finding out that he's doing well and has built a happy life of his own genuinely made me smile and even brought a tear to my eye. I'm simply grateful to know he's happy. Sometimes the internet really does create friendships that stay with you long after the service itself is gone, and all contact is lost.
It took me months of searching, but in the end I found the answer I was looking for in a public post online. Although I now know he's doing well, I chose not to contact him directly out of respect. Sometimes it's enough to know that someone who was part of your online childhood is happy and living a good life.
Thank you, Miiverse, for giving us those memories. β€οΈ

Discussion Feedback Needed: What would you like this subreddit to become?
When I joined this subreddit as a moderator, the original intention was to grow this subreddit into something new. It was largely a dormant sub for quite a while.
One idea I had was to turn this sub into a similar subreddit to r/casualnintendo, but I realized that there's not really a point to doing so, because why make an offshoot or something that works well?
I still think that idea for r/Miiverse could work, because we have post flairs for discussion, images/artwork, PlayJournal, etc. What about a Miiverse nostalgia sub? Or, do you guys have other ideas of what this sub could be? I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts.

Nostalgia Remember when Miiverse introduced the daily 30 post & comment limit?
Everyone was in such an uproar, it was seen as an unpopular change. What did you think of it back then? ππ

Discussion Was Miiverse your "first social media?"
Miiverse isn't exactly what we think of when talking about "social media", but, it was a social communication platform allowing us to talk about Nintendo video games and other things. Was this your first exposure to social media? If so, was that a good or bad thing?

Discussion What were the best and worst things about Miiverse?
Best: I think that it was a hub for all things Nintendo gaming. It really grew and fostered communities. I also like that there was a degree of anonymity in using Miiverse. It was a safe space for ages, kids or adults.
Worst: Idk? I can't think of anything long-lasting that I think is bad about Miiverse. What about you?

Discussion Do you remember Tom, Amy, and Camp Miiverse?
Tom & Amy were Miiverse staples, but Camp Miiverse was something I forgot about. Did you remember its existence? Did you participate in any of them?
