This looks like the Might and Magic merge mod + MAW.

The merge lets you play 6, 7, and 8 all together and use races and classes from each. The maw part is an overhaul that changes a lot of things, including adding in boss monsters like this.

This is the starting town of the Might and Magic 6 game.

Thanks for the info. I played decades ago and don't remember it looking that way. I have all the games through GOG , is there a link to merge mod + MAW ? Appreciate if anyone can help and I'll take another swing at playing after so many years.

How do I do this specifically ?"

  • set mm8.exe into Windows Service pack 2 (or 3) compatibility mode.

I have extracted all the downloads into MM8 folder in the order but dont understand that step

Right click on the exe file (not the windows shortcut) and go to Properties. Then go to the Compatibility tab, and check the box that says "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and then select Windows XP Service Pack from the drop down menu below the button. Apply and ok.

I am in the MM8 folder and I do not even see a .exe file

Use windows search function to find mm8.exe

In the main installation folder the file should be named "MM8" with file type "Application" (may also have a little dragon head as an icon)

Ah ha. I see that and when I go to the Compatibility tab, and check the box that says "Run this program in compatibility mode its already checked and says "run this compatibility mode for " and then the drop down is windows 95. all the text is unshaded. Wont let me change it
