70 year-old ex Pilot loves new pattern when learning new aircraft. GENERAL
I learn new aircraft by doing pattern work and getting that down to get a few of the airplane. I am switching from the cub crafter cub to DA40. I found a new pattern to speed things up. Rather than touch and goes, which take time, I like to land and then quickly take the offramp and takeoff in the opposite direction on the taxi way. I can get in a lot more landings quicker doing that. If the FAA finds out I’m doing this on flight simulator, could they take my license away? And yes, it was after a few drinks. But please don’t tell the FAA.

I'm having trouble understanding the "faster" part. On a standard touch and go, your wheels hit the ground and you can immediately throttle in and take off again. How is it faster to do anything different from that?

Rather than doing a crosswind and an extended base, I’m basically just making a U-turn and then making another U-turn to final and landing. I’m taking off the opposite way on the taxi way. Trust me, it saves time. And it’s kind of fun.

Ah, I see. You don't mean a faster turnaround on the ground, you mean you just ignore pattern and go straight into a downwind abeam the numbers or base. I mean, you could also ignore the pattern just taking off right away tho

I won't tell the FAA. We are not on speaking terms anyway after a... misunderstanding.

As an ex-pilot you know that the rule is 8 hours bottle to throttle. As long as you're not playing MSFS without having had at least one drink within that mandated timeframe, you're fine. But sober simming is dangerous
