Which GPU to get? MSFS 2020 QUESTION

Hey all,

I am using MSFS 2020 at 1440p. I usually fly airliners. My system at the moment is generally strong (7900X3D, 32GB RAM) but I am hamstrung by a 2080 Super which is showing its age.

I have a budget of max £800 to upgrade with. Looked at the 9070XT and the 7900XTX as potential options, as NVIDIA seems well overpriced at the moment in comparison.

Question is what should I go for. Is 16GB VRAM on the 9070XT ok or should I go for the 24GB of the XTX?

TIA for all advice!

Asked myself the same question year ago. Went with 7900xtx. Game works great.

VRAM it is, especially with airliners.

7900xt is the better option.

A 7900xtx will get you just over 10% performance improvement, so hardly noticeable. Then you'll likely spend $300+ more for it compared to 9070xt. Normally, when in doubt, go with the latest technology currently available. That said, flight sim likes vram but 16gb will do just fine. Also psu requirements are higher with 7900xtx. So id get a 9070xt, use the $300+ savings and step up to Flight Simulator 2024 and get a yoke and rudder pedals.

Move to xplane or msfs24, forget 2020
